Where my knives live and play......

Moose, we are doing a knot class at the next gathering. From what I can see of it, your first knot pic very well may be an inline prusik, but it also kinda looks like a tautline hitch. Second one is indeed a truckers hitch. Glad you got some time out in the woods brother, especially without all us reprobates there to tempt you with evil shenanigans and such. :D

Awesome post sir. Looks like good times. Beautiful area.

Found some more pics of Mr. Copperhead, in waterdivida baby.

Absolutely beautiful, but the water was cold, and he was very scared. Once I got him out, I was pokin' at his tail, which they hate, and he barely coiled up and looked pissed.

Oh, and for those of you that wanna know, we were in the National Park, killin' critters is frowned upon with much ferocity and fines. Anywhere else, especially my yard or Ethan's yard, this fella would have been promptly shot or beheaded.

But since we were in his house, house rules say, he lives. So, I just prodded the hell outta him. :D

Good pics Moose, glad you had a good time with your girls. Headed to the mountains with all of mine next week.

Will do..........but you can tell her yourself at Blade. :D

oh shit....

Well, in that case, tell her I said she looks like she lost weight, has an awesome glow about her, and her shoes are spectacular. :D

I can't wait to see ya'll, you gotta come to a little get together I'm having Saturday night, if you don't already have plans.

Just let us know......I'll send you my number. I don't know of any plans we have yet unless it is something with Patrick and Heather. I'll have to check with my "boss" and let you know.

Moose, I'm sorry to hear of your bad luck although it sounds like things are straightening out. I don't know the details, of course, but I wish you the best of luck. Beautiful pictures by the way.

As far as knots, my buddy Phil and I got out on Wednesday to work out the KaBar Machax and we did a couple of specialty knot segments. It's the first time we did an all video report so I don't know how it's going to turn out - I'm still waiting on Phil to edit and upload them. James Cameron, we ain't. :frown:

Glad your feeling better Moose. Beautiful place you have there. I feel the same way about Current river and Big Spring here.

Job situation..been there. Its a raw deal. but the time to re-asses ones situation (forced or not) can have much better outcome then the loss/stress incurred.
Kids...doing that dam I love being a father :) plus family helps keep your head on right ....even if they may drive you a lil nutz in the process.
Smokies...never been but wow looks like paradise. thx for the pics

Beautiful pics and some great vids there! I'll look you up on ytube and see if you have any more, I have a feeling you do.:)

And just like any day in paradise, a hillbilly fridge for some cold 'Dews, and a cold, and scared copperhead, really round off the overall experience.

We had the place to ourselves, which is rare. When we first got there, we built up the dam to provide what my daughters and I call, the mountain water slide. Nothing special, we just funnel all the water we can through a 3' wide opening, then clear all the rocks out, so no one busts their buns while going down. Today, we made "The Trifecta", which, means a trip down the waterslide, over to the rock cliff, up and off, and then a swim back. To some, its not much, but for Shy and Sisi, its better than a water park.

This is my zen, my home, and my passion. I love my Smokies, and hope to never leave here. Its not the same as when I was a kid, and it will never be the same, but I hope that the memories that I am creating, are much happier than the ones that I created. And some of them, were pretty damn happy.

If you're ever in my neck of the woods, and want to know of a few good places to hang out, hit me up, I can sure take you through some parts of the Smokies, that most folks around here, have never seen.

Damn moose. your an inspiration. life throws you curveballs, but instead of pressing for a grand slam you sit back and just put the ball in play and stay in the game(yeh its baseball season so the reference is allowed). I'm gonna take a page out of your book and just enjoy the times that I have with my son and whatever the future holds I can take in stride and enjoy the small moments. Its time I just sit back and wait for my pitch.

Moose, anyone that knows you or has at least talked to you a little bit knows that you're a deeply rooted family man with a rich love for the outdoors. You got it made brother, screw a job for now. Good times man, I'm jealous!

When I got laid off I decided it was going to be a good thing, and it became a good thing. I'm spending more time with the kids too, which is awesome. I just don't as awesome a play to hang out as you do.
