I assume you don't think that Kris Cutlery is selling them at a good price? www.kriscutlery.com .... I believe www.bladeart.com also used to handle some Kris Cutlery stuff sometimes cheaper then Kris had them. Other then that watch the classifieds.
I purchased one of their 29" katana blades a couple of years ago for $75.00 which seems to be a good "beater" blade for the money.I just checked their website and they only have much more expensive blades now,when did they drop the cheaper line?

They didn't drop the cheaper line; they just upped the price by $50. The bare blades went from $75 to $125, which still isn't bad for a good blade sword length. But, the Paul Chen Practical Kat. is around that price fully fitted; however, the tsuka is not removable. The Kris blade might take a bit more abuse; I don't know.
