Where should i go?

Yes, it sure is! Lots of old logging and sheep trails to explore.

Awesome! Now would you recommend southern Utah over mid-Utah for hiking? We were planning on staying around Zion, and going to surrounding places such as Bryce canyon

It depends on what you want. Southern Utah has awesome rock formations, the valleys around water are lush and green, amazing desert views. Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon are very pretty. Lots of Slot canyons, waterfalls, good views from High up. Angles Landing in ZNP isn't for the faint of heart. ;)

Central Utah has some Slot Canyons up Maple Canyon, Trees, meadows, lakes/reservoirs, creeks and all that mountainy stuff. Right now I'm on a "Explore Central Utah" Kick so thats my pick. Ephraim which is about 11 miles south of here is Home to Snow College. A smaller 2 year comunity college that just got it's 1st 4 year degree in Music. We have a Utah State University Satalite Campus here. One of the Courses offered is in Recreation and Land Management. Sanpete county has so much in the way of Outdoor Recreation with in such a close area that people come here for that and the small town feel. on yesterdays 3 mile hike, we only saw 3 people the whole time and that was when we were coming off the main canyon road heading back to the parking lot to get the car. So another Plus for down here, Less people in the smaller canyons.

What about the Sierra Nevada? I realize that Yosemite is going to be PACKED with people, but are there any places on the Sierras that is somewhat remote?

Im torn between Southern Utah and the Sierra Nevada mountains. Id really like to go to a place that has the most jaw dropping landmarks.

Look at the sticky thread up top for pics from lambertiana. Jaw-dropping is a good word for them. Sequoia, Kings Canyon, maybe some Yosemite backcountry...he posts amazing pics.
