I have had better days....

Damn, sorry to hear about that. I had my car totaled in a similar-looking collision a last year, idiocy was the cause too. I hope the insurance treats you well as I had a pretty smooth trip through the paperwork as I wasn't at fault.

Dang WW. That's rough. Keep an eye on yourself for the next few days. Last time I was in a car accident, it took a couple days before the pain set in from the whiplash. Hope it all works out, but glad to hear that you didn't suffer any major injuries.

Purchased an ESEE Zancudo. Sweet little folder. Dude threw in a bonus. Pretty dang cool of him to do so:

Catching up on a few pages...

Sweet Fiddleback!

Damn WW! Glad you're ok! those women drivers

Nice bottle opener Warrior!

Hey Warrior,

So freaking cool!
It really is. The guy was a few days late shipping, compared to what he originally said, so he threw the bonus in. Pretty cool of him to do so. I gave the folder to my wife. She has 7 fixed blades either I purchased, or was gifted to her. Figured it was time for her to have a folder. Nice little blade.

Congrats on the XM Clich.
Hinderer makes a fine knife indeed!

Nice Arete Aikiguy.
I've been on a bit of a Fiddleback kick myself here lately.
KingMC just picked up a sweet Bushfinger on the FBFleamarket too!

I've been off the forums and out of this whole realm for the last quarter or so (school was all-consuming), and not a week since I've been back on and I've already purchased another knife. At least this one I can blame on the 'heads at the BW gathering who tricked me into playing with a Fiddleback, like I can withstand that kind of sales pitch. :p

It doesn't feel bad, and I've heard it helps mitigate felt recoil some, but it feels a lot like a double action. A big part of a single action for me is the feel and the way it naturally points for me. I have a S&W 629 and if I'm going to get a gun that feels like a double action I might as well get another 629.

Pretty much. I'm kinda reconsidering that Vaquero anyway. I know they're pretty desirable and it's a nice gun but in a hard kicker I want the larger grip frame and it felt like it had the smaller one, plus I want the larger adjustable sights on a gun I might carry for defense in the woods. I'm thinking I'm going to hold out for the Super Blackhawk I want and also get something that replicates the original SAA more. A shop in Colorado springs has a Pietta for $360 in .357mag so ammo will be a little easier on the wallet. Would be nice to find a convertible in .357 and 9mm. When I could find .22 ammo I would shoot the crap out of my Heritage Rough Rider. BTW if you want a good .22 revolver for cheap get a Rough Rider. I really like that gun.

i like the 629 "4 inch" in .44 a lot

the fact it's multi-caliber is cool too.

the S&W similar .357 is sweet too for similar reason.

most recently, i've been enamoured of the .460 magnum. that can use *3* calibers :D the main round is about the size of a AA battery, just about .25 inches longer !!!

Agent picks it out after the x-ray, opens the blade halfway and is looking at me.....I told her I understood that I could not take it past the gate, but could it be held for me to pick up upon our return. Another guy is like "I'll have to check with the supervisor" and ten seconds later - I hadn't even gotten my boots laced back up - "nope"....and into the pocket of some TSA agent it goes.

if they literally pocketed it, they probably broke some laws. complain :D

it's my understanding they can't TAKE anything (the police could). you have to agree to surrender it. if they TOOK IT, super bad for them. complaint!

in theory, you should have been allowed to walk it back to your truck. if they refuse to let you in later, that's on them.

and yes, your boss is buying a new one, and is going to like it.

and yes, you should also yell at them for all the walking/etc.

I have had better days....

you've probably played the game before but 'you shall be made whole'

other person's fault?

you want a 24x7 rental

you want a NEW replacement vehicle. you will not accept repairs on a new vehicle - that's theft

you will not accept points or any percentage of responsibility

get the police report

call them every 3 hours :D

Damn WW, sorry about your truck, that really sucks. But like everyone else says, it could of been a lot worse. Be thankful no one was injured. If they total it, I'd still keep the grill and hang it on your shop wall. That's pretty badass!

I had a little restored faith in humanity today. I've had a broken tooth in the back of my mouth that has been causing me some severe pain. Well, I don't have any dental insurance so I just kind touched it out hoping the pain would go away. It did, for about a week, then it came back two nights ago so bad that I just about couldn't stand it. Couldn't sleep, eat, nothin. I finally had to go in. With no appointment mind you. I had to fill out all the paper work and they knew I had no insurance. So I had to pay for it out of pocket. The dentist is a guy who married a girl that I grew up with, a real sweetheart. He came in, we chatted a little, took a xray and asked what I wanted to do. I said "pull it" explaining my insurance situation. He said not to worry, I'll help you out, so when it was said and done, he charged me for the xray film, the numbing shots, pulled the tooth, and out the door. Under $200. I was blown away. I was told when I talked to the nurse that the xray by itself would cost $180. so to get it all done for that I was very grateful.

On the flip side, since I literally have not slept in two days because of the pain I was in. I got home from this little adventure today at about 3:00. I went straight to bed and slept better than I had in what seemed years. Feel like a new man now!

Glad that worked out for you, Todd. Tooth pain of that sort sucks, but not having insurance multiplies the suck factor exponentially. I'm glad you finally, ah...bit the bullet (bad pun, I know) and went in. Shouldn't we have/be celebrated/ing a birthday for you soon/recently? Not that you'll tell us, but....

WW! Glad you're ok, buddy! What a pointless mess.

'Hoss, I'm a Blackhawk man. The standard frame is my fav, though I have the 50th Anniv. model, which is a touch smaller. Frickin' LOVE that pistol. Gotta have the adjustable sights, IMO. The sight picture is just so much better. The .45Colt model with the .45ACP cylinder would be stupid practical. I do like my .357, though. Damn fine piece of machinery. I put the Super Blackhawk hammer on it. And cocobolo grips... And custom Mernickle mahogany leather... yeah. it's like that.

It was about 2 weeks ago!

My 629 is a 5", I like it. Not hard to pack but enough heft to keep it managable. .44 special loads are very fun to shoot but almost as expensive as magnums and harder to find. So about a year ago I stumbled on a 5" 625 in .45acp for only $625 so I grabbed that. A lot of fun to shoot and a little easier to feed to. I wish Ruger would bring back their convertible Vaqueros but the convertible blued Blackhawk is only $600 and can handle the crazy hotrod .45colt loads. And of course Ruger now has the Redhawk that handles .45 colt and .45acp in the same gun. If I didn't already have the 625 I probably would have got one of those by now.

I'll probably get a .460 before a .500 because it's a more versatile gun. Can't decide between an x-frame Smith or a Magnum Research BFR.

Also want a S&W Govenor.

i love pistol caliber carbine/pistol combos

the .460 s&w an shoot 3 calibers.

a .460 magnum bullet is ridiculous :D

the .454 casul it can shoot also, but apparently someone did a lever action gun on that. woo

otherwise, .44 magnum is wicked.
