I'm looking for a Sebenza, but want to see and handle one before purchasing it..... Anyone know where to find them in the Mass, RI, Area? I'm willing to take a short day trip, even South Eastern CT, and NH..... Thanks!

Did you check the Distributor list on the CRK website? It is broken down by state.

Thats how I found a local store that had them when I was deciding on whether or not to buy my first one.

I found a place in NH on there (whitemountainknives) but it like they are an online seller only....

How about ordering from an online retailer that offers a return policy. I am fortunate that I have a few local stores that carry CRK, so I have never bought one online.

But...I believe a few e-retailers offer a few day "money back guarantee" as long as the knife returns in the same shape you received it in.

Good luck with the search.

Thanks..... I rather check one out before spending the money. Hopefully, I'll find a local with one for sale.

One great thing about a Sebenza is that you can always buy one used and if you don't end up loving it, be able sell it for very little loss.

In my case, I thought it was a really nice knife but it didn't blow my hair back, and the total cost of my trying one out for a while this way before selling it was about $20. I ended up really liking the William Henry I bought with the money that came back from my little trip to Sebenza-land, incidentally.

I realize I can buy one used, online, and whatnot, but I'm not interested in doing that. I have no desire to ship knives here, there and everywhere. I want want to inspect one first hand.

Go to the Chris Reeves section of Bladeforums. Just ask if there's anyone in your area who would mind meeting you somewhere and showing you their knife. I did that in Oklahoma with Busses a few years back. You'll probably have someone willing to let you stop by.

I've had about 12 Sebbies and one Umnumzaan, purchased from our BF Exchange. Small, large, graphics, fancy wood inlay, etc. I have discovered that I prefer plain jane Sebbies, Large. I still have the Zaan, a Classic and a Regular, all purchased ANIB or with relatively light normal wear marks on the scales. Never tried to find one in a store. No need. You can always have CRK do a spa job on your scales; get it back like new, for $17 or so, IIRC. Customer service is great.

They (model 21's) sell new for $350 new Small Seb; $410 Large Seb. Both plain. On our Exchange, you'll find used small 21's for about $300 and used Large for $330-$350. The fancy models obviously are higher. Buy one in your size preference. Try it out, and resell immediately if you don't like it, for about what you paid for it. And, of course, check out the Insingo model also. Strange blade shape, but some love it. I think I saw one on the Exchange recently.
My problem is that I like 'em all, but some small portion of rational thought has told me that I cannnot own them all.
I've had two XM-18 flippers in slicer and spanto grind. Sold them off within two wks of purchase. Too heavy-duty for me. The Sebs are just right: in your preferred size and weight, blade-length, titanium and S30v or S35VN (generally) and will last you a lifetime. Probably get the small for "office" wear.
It's that easy. My nearest store would be 200 mile round trip; would cost me a full day and $60 in gas and meals. The Exchange is cheaper.
HOW MANY GUYS/GIRLS HAVE YOU TALKED TO THAT DON'T LIKE A SEBBIE? The odds are greatly on your side. Of course, some folks are irrational. :)
And, besides, it's not like this is the only knife you're going to own forever.

Whether you fondle one at a store or after getting one through the mail, you will initially be unimpressed. Buyer's remorse will hit you early, hard, and fast. "I paid how much for that?" Wait a few days - they really grow on you. But, if you are having significant misgivings now, they may not be for you. In my case, my first CRK was a Wilson Combat 'StarTac' Umnumzaan - which I had to order sight unseen. My first reaction was, "I'm not worthy!". It was love at first sight. My other CRK folder followed within the year - a plain Jane small Sebbie in S35VN - bought locally. Instant buyer's remorse caused me to put it up for a few days - then I appreciated it like I should have. Will I get a large Sebbie? Maybe - one day. I'll likely have initially significant buyer's remorse with it, too - but they grow on you.

Order one - make sure when it arrives that it's what you ordered - then put it away for a few days. When you retrieve it, the initial shock will be gone - you'll be in a better state of mind to evaluate. I am frugal - use coupons to buy my lunch - and I love my Sebbie! If you don't - you can always sell it!

Apparently I wasn't clear enough..... I DO NOT WANT TO BUY ONLINE, I WANT TO SEE AND BUY ONE IN PERSON!

I did Google it, thanks for your input.

Apparently not well enough. I found a place in your area. A couple of google searches and a quick phone call for verification did the trick. You're being kind of a douche in this thread, though, so I won't deprive you of making that effort yourself.

"Where to buy" threads belong in Feedback. Even though this is a "Where to fondle" thread I'm moving it to Feedback anyway.

@ knifehunt - Relax

@ evilgreg - No more name calling.

Well I can't find a single place that carries them, and I called the only cutlery shop around. Not much as far as gun shops here either.
