I don't believe there are any domestic manufacturers. 3m makes some flexible diamond belts. Norton makes CBN and Diamond wheels but not belts.
If you find a source I'm interested. I remember you asking about using a CBN wheel and while I don't think that's useful for anything we do other than surface grinding, I would be real keen to try a CBN or Diamond belt after trying to finish grind CMP 4V and M4 at high hardness.
in that name would have a whole set of tricky questions about the people you know and presentThe ceramic feels like it's cutting glass on 4v at 64hrc
Diamond is a No Go on steel. Its chemically reactive with iron with friction heat from grinding. Diamond is carbon highly soluble in steel, iron with heat.
No diamond.
They use diamond for ceramic and cemented carbide
CBN is chemically simliar in structure to diamond but not as hard. But still harder then anything else.
Best of all it's not soluble in steel. More stable.
CBN is used for steel, especially High speed Powdered steels at 67hrc and up.
I want to grind 4v at high Hardeness but it feels like a joke when I'm just wasting expensive ceramic belts that aren't the right tools for the job. Also CBN runs cooler.
So it cuts faster
Lasts longer
And runs cooler
The ceramic belts feel like they are cutting glass on 4v at 64hrc
Feels like it's plowing, not cutting and those belts die fast, $10-13 per belt adds up
I'd be willing to pay more but where are they? Why do I have to dig around the globe for them?
We have some of the largest abrasive manufacturers here in the USA, Norton , 3m etc.
Seems silly that I have to deal with China or Germany when this should be a great option for people that are grinding high Vanadium powder tool steels.
Looks like I'm all alone here. Looks like I'll just have to scrounge a CBN belt myself somehow and show what I'm talking about and maybe something will catch on so I don't look like a crazy person. Or Maybe there crap haha. Idk
a little bit to spin in the circle

Do you have any link where I can read about this ?Diamond is a No Go on steel. Its chemically reactive with iron with friction heat from grinding. Diamond is carbon highly soluble in steel, iron with heat.

You must doing something wrong..............So far I grind four M42 HSS steel blade on 67-68 HRC , I m not sure how much/2 or 3/ from M35 HSS , two from unknown HSS steel and several in carbon steel .....all that with ONE 40 grit ceramic belt , belt that still grind like NEW .I grind on 6400 SFPM and on around 10000 SFPM with VFD..........
Now I notice that many knife maker here grind on around 4000 SFPM which is to SLOW for 40 grit ceramic belt ............. recommended speed /found on different place on Web/ is 7000 SFPM and UP !
And most important ....................As amazing as good quality ceramic belts are, they are not at all recommended for soft material. They glaze and clog up, quickly ruining an expensive belt.
YesDo you have any link where I can read about this ?
They are cheap nowa little bit to spin in the circle

Thanks ! Well ,I don t think that apply to us ..........to high temp be needed to happen...............
We have here active members from Germany ..........We know the belts exist but where are they for sell!?
