I'm just getting into knife making and wanted to buy a blank to finish off myself. I really like the look of the Loveless style hunters. Some of the Fallkniven's are really nice, and if I ever win the lottery I be able to buy one. I'm actually looking for something smaller though for edc, about 6.75" OAL. Where's a good place to buy quality blade blanks?

Here are a few Fallkniven blades for reference:

Do you want it alredy ground and heat treated? or are you going to grind it and send it out to have it heat treated?

north coast knives has a buttload of different types if you just want to slab some scaless or hidden tand. i practiced my handle work on them initialy. Ragweed is great for hiiden tang knives. i may have a few -do you want me to check and see what i have?--marekz

Maekz: Geesh, that is awfully nice of you! I don't even know what ragweed is, but I'll check. Again, wow, thank you for you help.

On a general note, what I am looking for is a quality smallish classic hunter type knife with a metal guard up front, made out of a good steel. I probably can't get one short enough for edc (approx 6 3/4"), so I will probably need to take some metal off here and there. I'm assuming I can still do that if the blade is already hardened. If I have to modify the blade first and then send it out for heat treating, so be it.

Nevertheless, I'd like to get a style close to the pictures I attached above and maybe close to the size I need. Most helpful, in general, is who sells/what are the good blade blanks? Hopefully, they'll have some classic hunter blanks.

Thanks everyone for your advice!
