Hello,
I am curious to try my hand at making a leather sheath- where do you purchase your leather and beeswax, also what kind of thread do you prefer? Thank you-
Martin
As for beeswax--go to any hardware store and buy a toilet sealing ring--about $6, I think--this is solid beeswax and crushes over the downpipe in your commode where the throne is mounted.--Dan
Yeah that looks like a good deal.i think I paid 4.00 a pound for mine.
I use 2 pounds and a like volume of neats foot oil. The oil needs to be heated up to over 300 degrees but don't let the sheath stay in it longer than a second or two or you'll french fry it.My first one curled up like a chicarone. The second one didn't look quite so bad. The third one I just dipped in and out and it came out fine.

Have this gentleman make your sheaths you can't go wrong! He made this one for the last bowie I made, he now does all my leather work.
