I've bought some from http://Rangerjoes.com before, but Amazon has that free shipping policy on certain items. I think its over 25 bucks on eligible super saver shipping. I just got 100 ft of Rothco 7 strand (black) for around 10 dollars that I'm going to open as we speak.

About once a month my wife orders something from amazon she usually needs to spend $5-$6 dollars more to to make $25 for the free shipping. If I'm not home she just picks a color and orders it. If I'm there she will ask what color . Basicly it is pay $6-$7 shipping or buy the paracord and get the shipping free. Short version Wife orders me a 100 ft hank about once a month from amazon

Guys, you can buy paracord anywhere. But be forewarned that most of it is actually crap and does not support the claimed weight. 99.9% of it is "commercial" paracord. To my knowledge, the only place you can get the same mil-spec paracord that is actually supplied to the U.S. military via contract is at BestGlide. They buy their paracord 100% mil-spec from a military contractor that the USG has a *current* contract with. http://www.bestglide.com/550_cord_info.html

I wouldn't trust anything else for serious tasks. Now then, the paracord you can buy at the local surplus store or on Amazon is good enough for most bushcraft tasks. But if you are going to stake your life on it, go with the BestGlide stuff.

Case in point. Again, this stuff is fine for most bushcraft or household tasks, but just so you know that there is indeed a difference between real mil-spec and commercial paracord. I.e., the commercial is made to lower standards (or rather, is not made to the same high standards as mil-spec).

If you are fine with that, then God bless. But be aware.

Thanks for the tip. I've ordered stuff from bestglide in the past. There were 2 different web pages for them last time I was there.

Here is a link to the newer site (its under "contact us" on the older page)
