Where to buy small metal keychain whistles?

I'm looking for the whistles listed here: http://www.epromos.com/product/8825540.html

But I don't really want to buy 300. Anyone use a similar whistle? I like the looks of the slim dimensions. Is a mini-fox 40 much bigger? Comparison photos?

I'm considering this for my keychain edc, not as my only whistle in backcountry.

Go with a fox 40. Metal on your lips in extreme cold weather is never comfortable. Remember the kid in the movie Christmas Story:D

Naked,

they are decent whistles. Not as loud as fox 40 but they take up less space in small kits and on keychains.

In winter warm it up before you use it. No big deal.

The fox requires a little more air to start it going. The rei bison whistles aren't as loud but you can get a whistle out of it with the slightest movement of air. This problem cropped up when I had some dental work done and didn't want to disturb my sutures.

Thanks everyone. I was just at REI a few days ago and didn't see any of these. Does REI carry the mini fox 40 as well?

My local Wal-Greens drug store gets those in sometimes, if you live near one, you might check there.

Let me know how many that you want, I have a friend that can get them in smaller quantities for you if you like.

When I bought metal whistles at REI, they were displayed in a different part of the store than all the other whistles. They were located with keychain gizmos, e.g. pill/spy capsules.

I saw Mini Fox 40 whistles and others there, too. The store stock changes from time to time and the store stocks only a fraction of what they advertise at the REI web site.

Bought a pair of yellow, plastic Fox Howler whistles in the camping department at a Dick's Sporting Goods store. They require more air before emitting a loud sound.

I found some metal whistles that have a spy capsule built into the bottom. EDC Depot has them: https://edcdepot.com/merchantmanage..._id=91&mmsid=714859a66a9a68dfcc0d26504e9c3673

REI usually keeps the metal ones in with the keychains. I've found them in hardware stores, mom-pop camping stores, etc.
I don't care much for the metal ones-- they are weak on the sound part. The Fox 40 is a good one. I carry the ACR whistles for a good balance of weight/volume/size/cost. They are flat and fit into kits well.

You can order direct from Bison design, minimium order was $50.00 and they have lots of neet stuff so $50.00 is not a problem.

Ace Hardware used to carry these, next to the keychain stuff. Milled aluminum, in a 2-pack for like $2.50. I bought my last one 6-months ago.

I carried a Fox 40 for years, recently replaced it with the mini. They both make noise but the mini is less obtrusive on my keychain.

Be careful with www.edcdepot.com ... all those little toys are addictive! :D

I remembered something you might like to hunt around for. I just got mine out and I'd forgotten how painfully loud the little thing is, with just a breath of air going through it.

It's a dog whistle made from a deer antler tip, with a wooden plug added. I've seen them from time to time in catalogs with dog training gear. Not real expensive, as I recall.

I ordered a bunch of keychain whistles from this guy over at CPF. He'll add whatever color paracord that you want, including some reflective ones. I got black reflective and attached them to every zipper pull I could get my hands on, and then scattered a few in various bags and kits. They are not as loud as the Fox 40, but still put out quite a bit of noise, and are an awful lot cheaper. I give them to friends when we go on hikes and they are always amazed at how useful it is to let someone know where you are when you can't see them.

I've gotent a number of them as promo items. I don't really care for the sound they make- a tad too high pitched for my liking, but their pretty loud- but as a previous poster said- are no Fox 40.
