Where to buy W2

I see all these great hammons and hear a lot of great things about W2. I would like to try some but can't seem to find it. Where can I buy some W2? I did a google search and nothing recent.
 
Give it a couple weeks/or a month. The last batch was recalled as there was a problem with it. There are a few guys who have their own supply from buying in bulk (ie Don Hanson.) Aldo figured the end of January, so keep watching his site.
 
If you find it let us know. Basically isn't any around right now other than some in round bar form
 
I would take round bar if it wasn't too big. I think 7/8" would be about as big as I could handle though. Do you know where you can find it in round bar.
 
You could get some W1 for now, and practice up on your hamons using that until W2 becomes available. I used a fair amount of W1 and it's quite good for hamon work. That, and it's a lot easier to find- pretty cheap, actually.
Here's some 1095, too. Also good for hamons. Aldo's got the W1 as well.

You could always get W1 (which is available from multiple suppliers, including Aldo) while waiting for W2 to be restocked, that's what I've been doing. The absence of W2 has also been an opportunity for me to get out of my comfort zone and work with some through-hardening steels like 1084 and 5160.
 
When I was looking for W2 I called several steel mfg. I almost got misled by one or two of them. They were going to sub W1 as that is what there books told them to do. Luckily I picked up a few lbs from Don. Good luck in your search.

Yea well somewhere close to 1k was the last count. But then...... I Can never have enough as a steel WHORE.:eek:
