Hi all,

I have lurking here on bladeforums for a few weeks and have been using it extensively trying to decide between a BK2, BK16, and an Esee 4. I finally decided to go with the BK 16 and my wife has "authorized" the purchase :). Now comes the big question, who gets to separate me from my money? After a quick forum search I found this post: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1030388-Where-to-buy-BK24-or-other-BK-amp-T-knives and there was mention of Tomars and Grand Prairie Knives. I can't say I've heard of either of these. Are they reasonable and reliable?

Anyway, enough beating around the bush, where can I get a good deal on a BK16 without paying an arm and a leg for shipping?

Thanks for the help and for providing such a great resource.

Kevin

I just bought a BK2 and BK16 from Tomars. Their price was among lowest I could find, shipping charges were fair and best of all it was at my doorstep in 3 days counting the day I ordered it. it must have shipped the same day.

I usually go with KnifeCenter, they have a great selection of different things, not just knives. I have recently found KnifeSupply, they have a more limited selection than KnifeCenter, but have better prices. Here is a link to the BK16.....http://www.knifesupply.com/eshop/10Expand.asp?ProductCode=BKR16. I recently bought a Fallkniven S1 ($135 [one of the best prices I could find]) from them and the shipping was pretty reasonable and fast. I dont have a great deal of experience with them but I would definitely go there first for their prices in the future. Good luck! From what I have heard its a great knife!

Had a look and they have the Becker BK-15 for $36.95...That a glitch or error? Haha...

Tomars is excellent. Fast service, competitive prices, and he's built his whole business around selling Ka-Bar products.

Thanks for the input, guys. I tried to go with Tomars, but on checkout, it didn't like my card. So I turned over to Amazon and found one there. Should be here in 2-3 days :)

Knifesupply

I don't really want to trash talk anyone, but if anyone else had issues with a retailer I'd want to know, so..

The site doesn't actually list stock status on the items, it just lists the items, so I asked Knifesupply if they had all the knives I wanted to order in stock, and they said yes. I can't find the e-mail in my inbox, but I certainly wouldn't have placed the order if some of the items weren't in stock.

Then they told me that orders usually go out within 48 hours. So, after 2 days or so, I asked if the order was about to go out - then the customer service rep tells me that they had to order some knives that were out of stock.

The last reply I got from them was the email stating that all the items were available (Even though they had to order some.), and that it would go out tomorrow via USPS Priority Mail. When the package got stuck for several days at some place, I asked if it was due to christmas traffic (But more importantly, I wanted them to respond, since several emails had gone unanswered.).

Then the package got stuck in customs due to a lack of a commercial invoice. I e-mailed them once again, and asked for the package information and invoice. No reply.

I sent the information I had to the customs though, which was enough.

I did get the package, all the knives, and so forth, but still .. 11+ days, 10ish e-mails, not a single reply (Still no reply.)

Obviously, I got the stuff I ordered, so I won't say that they are horrible, or even try and deter others from ordering from them -- just be aware of the customer service. I personally think that customer service is extremely important, but other people may not.

Sometimes in our desire to save a few bucks, we end up paying in the long run. Buy once, cry once. If an item is above your means, then save until you can afford it or make due with what you can afford. No need to overcomplicate one's life by chasing deals that may or may not exist. You may just end up discovering a drop shipper that has a bad reputation that is known to everyone except you at the time.

Excellent necro bump by the way.
