Im jsut wondering where the cheapest place to get a rapier would be. im not looking at spending over 40 bucks on it.
i appreciate the advice

About the only functional swords you can get for that price would be bolos, and it is debatable whether they are swords or big knives. To answer your question, try www.eknifeworks.com and www.budkww.com . knifeworks does have some good deals on movie replica swords from Knight's tale and Galdiator.
 
Yes, but you do get what you pay for at those prices, i.e. something that you really do NOT want to try using.
 
You might be better off taking a fencing class at a community college or community education program and maybe buying a foil to drill with at home. If you like swords and/or martial arts, the younger you start the better.

Go get a piece of thin rod stock, poke it thru a metal ash tray, and tape in place. Now that's a cheap foil! If ytou wanna pocket foil, just substitute an auto antenna for the rod stock.

The fencing school is a good one. Hey, if parents'll buy a kid a ball glove and a bat, they would probably spring for a foil.

Otherwise, save the 40 bux til there's more, or look for part time employmt. Da bux gets dem toyz!

well i cant find a fencing school in smallsbury. (salisbury nc) if any one know where the one is, plx let me know
 
Bluntly put (no pun intended) you can't purchase a rapier for under 40 dollars. You might be able to get a rapier like object but I really doubt even that. My suggestion, keep saving until you can afford something you will be proud to own instead of something that you will stuff in a closet some day when you have purchased a real sword.
 
or fond a historical combat school, like HACA ARMA, SCA. I know the SCa has been picking up numbers in the period fencing realm. SCA is available in most big cities, and just about every college has an SCA group. They are also re-enactors, so that means they play historic dress-up as well as go a-fightin.

Disadvantage of the above groups--Ya hafta be 18 to fight unless you get a waiver (and even then maybe not). MA schools have no such rules.

Chreapest rapiers Ive bought were from K&kart, the "light" rapiers are really cheap but not good quality but for the price paid Id still say they are a good buy. www.kkart.cz
