Hey guys im kind of new to the wilderness forum, but i love the outdoors and wilderness. After reading the posts and viewing pics on here its inspired me to start spending all of my free time outdoors again with nature. So i was wondering if any of yall have ever camped in Alabama and if so where and would you recommend it.

Thank you for any info and i hope to start chimig in on more of the threads.:)

There was just a thread on this subject not too long ago. If you search a bit you may find it. ;)

There are quite a few choices in AL for camping, hiking, mountain biking and even backpacking. Two I'm familiar with are Monte Sano SP near Huntsville, and Oak Mountain SP near Birmingham. I've spent a lot of time hiking Oak Mountain and its a great place. I don't know as much about Monte Sano but the limited time I have spent there it looks nice, too. You can find more info on them, and other AL SPs at the Alabama State Parks website.

There are also some good websites for hiking trails around the state. Check out these websites for more info:

Hope that helps!

Canyon Mouth park just outside Fort Payne is very nice. Good hiking and fishing and beautiful views from the canyon. F.P. is my hometown and I used to camp there often. Hope that helps, Jim
