Where to find a specific Old Timer

The knife I am looking for is an Old Timer 194ot slim line trapper with carbon blades and derlin saw cut scales.

My grandfather had one of these and I always wanted one. When I was able to, I got one. Sad to say, but it has been lost for some time and I do not think I will see it again.

When my grandfather passed, his wife (second wife) sold anything of value or gave it to her son.

Anyway I have been looking for one of these Old Timers for a while and all I can find was the ones made in China.

I have been looking in pawn shops, and hardware store (ace and lowes) with no luck. Are there other places that might have carried them at one point?

Thanks,
John

Hey John- There is a ton of the usa ones usually avilable on ebay. Let me know if you dont have any luck I may have a used one around, or are you looking for new in the box. I have both send me an email and I can try to hook ya up.- Joel

eBay is probably your best bet. You might also have luck posting in the Wanted To Buy forum section.

I have one sitting right here...if you want it, it's yours...just pm me your address and we'll get it shipped...cost? a kind act to someone else.

Absintheur,

Good Show Mate! What a Super Guy!.

This is why I love this community so much. Good people who help each other and become fast friends in the process.

God Bless this little neck of the woods on all who are in it. :)

Absintheur,

What else you got sitting around? ;) Just kidding!

This is why I like this place. Folks with generous attitudes like you.

I knew that when the OP posted that, someone would step up; another fine gesture.

When My grandfather passed his wife and my mom ensured that each and every one of his knives went into a shoe box that was taken to the dump! It still bugs, but that was a long time ago. By the way great move Absintheur, very nice gesture!

The geese told me to do it or they would perform a fly-by waste dump on my Mini Cooper...

I am so sorry when I hear this sort of thing, and I've heard it twice now here and several times before this. I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would ever conceive of doing this sort of thing, ever?.:thumbdn:

This is truely a great group of guys.

oldrifleman, I know how you feel. There is a feeling in the pit of my stomach when I think about things like this that just can not be described.

My grandfather's 2nd wife did not care much for me as I was the only grandson from her husband (and I think he showed it sometimes). She had 2 other gandsons from her first husband, who she seemed to love dearly. The two other grandsons and I got along great until my grandfather passed.

After his passing, his wife and her kin pulled away from everyone on his side of the family. I am proud to have at least been given the USA flag since he served in the Air Force. The flag, a few pics and some really great memories are all thats left.

Sorry for the long wordy post, it is just getting around that time of the year and I tend to think about him more.

Thanks,
John

That's funny. Always good to start the day off.

I got your address John...when the snow subsides a bit in a day or two I will get this posted to ya.

I hope I will have enough warning before I go to personally give some of my most cherished objects to the ones I want them to go to...even with a will it doesn't always go as planned so I have already started gifting some of my knives to the next generation in my family.

Thank you very much Absintheur.

It seems you have a great idea about giving them to the respected new owner. This way, you know who has it and you get to see the smile on their face.

I look forward to when I am able to hand my son some of my most cherished items, and him appreciate them as much as I do.

John
