Where to get a heavy duty sewing kit?

My bush repair kit includes a cpl of packs of needles, dental floss, linen and cotton thread and super glue. This isnt the whole kit but is the smaller take everywhere stuff.I've even used the superglue and cotton thread to repair a pair of glasses .Superglue soaks the thread and sets very hard.

I love the Exped Expedition Sewing Kits. http://www.exped.com/exped/web/exped_homepage.nsf/b43HomePageE?openframeset That T shaped thing in the middle of the display is a sewing awl, similar to the Speedy Stitcher. Except it fits in the kit, which fits in your pocket. I added some extra needles, safety pins, thread, buttons, etc. to my kits, and they have served me well.

I don’t know how easy they are to score. The American sources I used to get them through no longer carry them.

Believe it or not waxed dental floss works well for heavy duty sewing.I've used it to repair or make sheaths, packs and other leatherwork.I generally double and twist the thread. Its a cheap expedient strong thread.

Even more so, I rather like dental tape. Same thing, but thicker. :)
