Hey guys, I'm trying to find a place to get 2"X42" grinding belts. I had a link to a place that would do custom lengths, but I lost it.

Give this a try http://barbkat.com/ I get my 2x42 through them, you have to order 10 at a time but comes out to around 1.20 per belt: grits up to 600. Of course these are not the high quality/long lasting ones, but I've had good luck with them

Tru Grit should have them. 2 x 42 is not a custom length per se. Evenery little crappy Craftman grinder the Sears sells uses them. What you may find is that you don't have as much of a selection as you do from the knifemaking supply houses for 2 x 72, which, i have been told, is also an oddball size everywhere other than out little hobby.

Thanks a bunch, guys!

One of these days I'll be able to aford a Bader, but until then I have to make do with my cheap little grinder.

www.klingspore.com
or call John Williams - 1-800-645-5555
He's the knifemaker rep for Klingspore. They will make up ANY size belt for you (128.125X 4.25" ? no problem). They stock most every belt in 2X42 already. Prices are good, and it doesn't take much quantity to get you 30% off. Belts arrive in a two or three days, max.

Ditto on John and he will give you real personal sevice and answers to you questions. A rare rep in any business these days it seems. Also Take a close look at that grinder it might not be that hard to reconfigure it to handle a longer belt.
