Where to go with the collection?

My experiences handling Sebenzas have been underwhelming. I respect the attention to detail with regard to F&F, I appreciate how slim they are, etc. I simply don't find them compelling at all.

That's the same way I feel. But I've never even played with one so I thought I was missing something.

You're really not.

The thing fits together like a Swiss watch. The seams are very tight, there is very little room between the blade and titanium slabs in the closed position, and there is zero play when open. Blade to handle ratio is outstanding.

...and the handle is board straight, not contoured. The handle edges are rounded, just like pretty much every other knife handle on earth. Thumb studs are OK. Action is OK. The blade steel is S35VN, which means the materials are competitive around $180-$200.

Frankly, I think the ZT 0801 is a flat out better knife, even without considering cost. I'm not saying that as an 0801 owner trying to promote his choice-- I have handled them a lot but not bothered to buy one.

What's your opinion of hinderers. Specifically XM24

Haven't handled them, so I can't speak from that perspective. This will be about expectation.

- I love the ergos of the 0550, 0560, and 0566. I assume the similar handle shape and such would make the XM knives a great fit for my tastes.

- same blade and handle materials, BUT... all of that custom hardware... Yes, please. If I'm blowing money that doesn't contribute to performance, it better be going to sexy stuff! The hardware on XMs is SEXY, in my opinion.

Basically, I would expect ZT performance (which is awesome) with a heaping dose of sexy sprinkled on top. If I had the money set aside for a $400+ knife, it would be a Hinderer.

But that's just my opinion.
