Recommendation? Where to live in Florida?

Good luck on the move and job search cj. Make sure you buy a few extra couches. As soon as you get settled in, a bunch of us of coming to visit and crash at your place. Tue night into Wed afternoon we have "supposedly" 4-8" of snow hitting the Detroit area.
Reaaaaally hoping we can get this place in Sebring. I don’t want to jinx it, but we will have our own dock and lake access. Freaking amazing. Sebring may be low key, but I will be hitting the race track for sure and once I figure out the right tackle, can host some fishing sessions. Youngest step bastid wants to ge there and relocate to Miami. He don’t want the slow life. He is getting ready to fly the coop.

Good luck on the Sebring purchase, but if for some reason it doesn't work out you should be able to find a lake front property. From Sebring up through the middle of the state there are loads of lakes-without fact checking believe in the thousand + range. some bigger than others and some chained together.

from this florida boy, welcome to florida Sir.
Very nice of you sir! I signed my offer letter today. Wifey and I are flying to Ft Myers airport May 3rd. We are meeting our realtor and hitting Sebring as well as Palm Coast. I was speaking with my new boss, and good friend, about the upcoming work, since the deal is inked. He says there will be lots of road travel. I will get to see a lot of Florida quickly.

Thank you Peter, this is pertinent info. Growing up in Southern California, there is almost no such thing as lake front property. So, it seems pretty special to me. We need downstairs room for wifey’s sister to be safe for her, and big enough for father in law as well. We are very excited.

Put in for a gator hunting tag upon arrival!

and the earlier poster said there was nothing exciting to do :)
When it comes to gator hunting I am more in the Marlin Perkins (of Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom)role-Jim go grab the gator.

I am a bird hunter for sure. Mainly dove. I will be going to Yuma every dove opener. My buddy made me promise. I will fulfill that promise. I am going to look into the non native python issue. That sounds interesting to me.

they found some of these invasive super snakes as far north as polk county....not lots of them but a few have been caught and spotted.

keep an eye on your dawg...these snakes are eating alligators.

Wifey and I are pushing out the flight til second week of May. One of the kids are waiting on his ID. He lost it. Also, I am trying to wrap up some jobs, so I have a clean break from it. If there ever is such a thing.
I will do some python hunting. I may pass on the gator wrestling. I saw a guy get bit. There is no need to go through that.

Good luck!
Wifey and I are doing the same thing from Ct. We have kids and grand kids in New Smyrna so we're looking inland about an hour in the Mt Dora, Eustice area. Lots of lakes and springs.
We're going down for 2 weeks mid may also.
I just retired and wife is a nurse so no problem employment wise. Housing market here is turning into buyer bidding wars.
We're empty nesters with the five kids in 5 states. --Asta luego New England winters!

Wifey’s colleague lives in Palm Coast. He has to call for gator extraction at times. Snakes too. It appears we may want to be near there for her work. It doesn’t matter for me, I will be all over central to north area of Florida for work. That is where most of my work will be. North of Tampa and also some of Georgia and Carolinas. I am getting excited. Those pictures are amazing JB. A whole new world for a So Cal guy, used to less than 10” of total annual rainfall per year average. That may be my biggest issue is the culture/climate shock. I may have to put the hard top back on the CJ. I haven’t even had the bikini top on it to catch some sunshine as I run to the dog park this spring.

yeah its very green and wet here except for some scrub areas. palm coast is very green and its beaches are nice. yeah take the cj on a run on a1a and some parts where you'll be and a bit north run right on the water with few houses and things to block the views of the coast and just fantastic views.

I run it south when I come back from jax, sometimes and when time isn't an issue.

some more pics just cause...

We fly out on the 15th of May. We pushed it out abit to get things wrapped up here contract wise for me and wifey has a few things to wrap as well. Her boss/bosses dump a lot on her. She does monthly billing and found clients doing “test” reports in the billable arena not in the test arena and they don’t want to pay for it. Billing has to be adjusted accordingly. She is getting push back from some of the execs. I told her to tell them, “Don’t kill the messenger” in her next meeting. She liked that. I hate to see her stressed out. Life is too short. I know they value her work highly. She gets stuff done, she is a results gal, not an excuse gal.
I was asked to do a couple of “easy” retrofits before the recon mission and it should be fine. Otherwise I am not accepting anymore work, for once I get back from FL it will be pretty much get packed up and ready to go. Plus, there are some residual on going projects I may have to pay attention to before I really leave. It is starting to get real now. I have some wall texture and painting to do now. Thx again.

Pushed it back to May 15th but coming into Orlando instead of Ft Meyers.
