for a suitable grinder motor, on the cheap.
I hear of some of you guys using old treadmill motors, but where exactly are you finding old treadmills?
I keep my eyes open at yard sales, flea markets and junk shops, so far no luck.

Garbage dumps are great places to find motors or just about anything else. Check out old washermachines, driers, dishwashers. These all have fairly heavy duty motors in them, some with longer shafts for connecting a wheel to. Alternatively check out your local junkyard, they carry this kind of stuff along with automotive junk that could be used for building a grinder or buffer.

I have an old treadmill motor, I was planninng to run it on my KMG, but Rob Frink talked me into a 1 1/2 Leeson. You want it? It's yours with the speed control board. The cost will be shipping out to NS. It is easily 7 kg.

any idea how strong it is?
I'm game anyhow, email me the details at slinthorne at gmail.com
I want to get this puppy up and running to finally try out a real grinder! ;)

Frank if you're reading this I found one on ebay from a local guy.
it's only 1/2hp but it's reversible and should be enough to get me going again.
Thanks again for the offer, Steve.
