I looked on admiral steel, but that had several different types, hot rolled and cold rolled?

I'm looking for some ~4' bars around 1.5" wide.

Where do you guys order from? I'm using this for stock removal, not forging.

You can get 3/8 1095 from Aldo and Mace.
Thery also have real nice 1084 in 1/4 X 1.25 and 1.5
Look in the For Sale Knifemaking Supplies forum.

The 1084 is what I would recomend.
Their pricing is great, and shipping is real low.

Can someone post a link to the type of steel I would want from admiral? I'm having trouble understanding all of their options.

1084 and 1095 temper the same. If you mean the quench, 1084 is a little easier. The two steels will make a nearly identical knife.Aldo's 1084 is actually a little closer to 1090, and was made for knives.

You want whatever you need (I know that sounds silly). If you need steel for forging, then HRA is fine, if you are going to be doing stock removal, CRA is a little cleaner. If you are making folders, then precision ground is what you want.

Call them on the phone. They will be happy to go over all that with you. Good people to work with. :)

CRA 1095 is what you need to order from there. It comes in 96' that they will cut down for shipping. as in 48x2= 96. You can call me if you need to and I will go over it with. It's no big deal here. Hope this was of help to you. God bless and have a great day my friend.
