Where to place stop pin and pivot on a friction folder?

I always face difficulties trying to figure where those should be placed on a ff.
How do you calculate where the stop nail will be with regard to the main pivot?

I've found that if you want to you can place it anywhere so long as the tang touches it and the blade doesn't. But here is a more specific diagram from sugar creek forge. He also has a great video on making friction folders, look it up on youtube.
