where to start ? how to make a knife ....

Count,

I do have another set im sending to darrin
That i am very pleased with and is a more
Simple design so hopefully he'll post it !

Frank

Frank, here's your other drawing. I like the top one but I would add just a bit more length in the handle. Other than that it would make a great knife.

Mr.Sanders,

A little more length may work
I'll keep working with it .

Frank

Ok ive been Working in it and think I nailed it
Down a little and will keep Working on it !
So we'll see how it goes From here

Frank

Ok guys,

Ive been Working on my designs and if all
Goes right I will be making a cardboard
Cut out of them this weekend it check out
The feel of them in hand then maybe go on
To do the same but in wood instead of card
Board ! Ill keep you guys up to date after I
Get it done this week end !

Frank

Ok i got the design ive Working On finalized
And made a cut out out Of cardboard last
Night i really like the blade shape but i think
I'll need to shorten the handle From 5 and a
Half down to 5 or even 4 and 3/4 Of an inch...
NOW im ready to start buying the files and
Other tools i need ! As i said before This is
A long term project so i shall start to aquire
all tools and material over the next few months

Frank

OK, now that you have it pinned down to a final shape, send me a scan of the final prototype and I will cut it out in steel for you. You can make the knife from there. Send me an email and we can work out the details.

General info to all:
I get a lot of emails with drawings and scans that are of no use. Place a ruler in a photo or scan. or mark a drawing with measurements. On an internet printout, you can't tell a Bowie from a hunter. Also, many times the printer/scanner will change the image to fit the standard ratio of the page....making the knife longer/shorter and thinner/fatter than drawn.

We are working on the profile and getting ready to cut the blade out.
Once the work starts, Frank will probably start a WIP thread.

Stacy,

Those handle slabs are they two tone or did
They get liter From the sanding ? Also do i
Need to seal the handle or just leave it be ?
Thanks !

Frank

Deep breaths, Frank. In...out...in ...out.

The handle is Micarta, and looks lighter when sanded. The slick and darker outside is from the manufacturing.
They are only roughed in at to 120 grit right now. You will polish them more later. I believe I sent you that info in the email I sent. Finishing is covered in the How To Instructions sticky.

Got it ! Yes i believe you did email That
Information ! ... They say the only Dumb
Questions are the ones not asked ! So I
Ask them even if i have asked before ive
Always been This way blame it on My
ADHD ! ;-)
