Where to start

I would like to get into knife making,maybe starting with a kit.Where do I start,who has the best kits? Who do I talk to? where to look?are thier folks here that sell parts to start with?any help would be great.Thanks

if i were you, i'll start customising an old file.
you just need a fire place and some tools and you'll have fun.
And it won't cost you a penny !

A kit will give you an idea of how a knife goes together and takes almost no tools. type knife kit into your favorite search engine. If you want to make from steel, start by reading. "The complete bladesmith" is good as is "New edge of the anvil" (basic blacksmithing) or "A blacksmithing primer". If you are interested is stock removal, someone else can recommend a starting point, I forge.
