Maybe I'm just imagining things, but it seems its been kinda quiet in our beloved Schrade forum. Just wanted to throw a "hey, how ya doin'" out there and see who bites. Seems some of our regulars have been out of pocket for a while. Wishing you all well!

Chuck

Yes, it is pretty quiet. I kind of expected this. We tend to think that there are probably a lot of people interested, but the fact of the matter is that the demographic is probably microscopic. There are maybe 50 people in the world who check in here. Soon Schrade will be relegated to being just one more antique pocket knife company. You don't see an Empire forum, do you? Most knife lovers are under 30 years old and don't even like traditional knives. Most of them don't even realize that there was an AMERICAN Schrade, or care. We must keep posting something, anything, or this subforum is going away.

Aggie - Merry Christmas to you and our other members!
Let's see if I can pop in some photos ........

Not a lot of 'bling' but I think they're Handsome

Howie

Nice show Howie. Not much new from me. I check the forum at least once a day. Someone needs to make a big score.

Beautiful knives!.....Cal, something that always makes me wonder if it is worth the effort of posting photos/stories...you can have say 55 total lookers at a thread and maybe 15 actually look at the photos...I can see the count against my photos...Personally I love looking at the photos of the knives say on Bernard Levines forum even if I dont collect that branding...I cant imagine opening a thread and reading it and not bothering to even look at the photos of the knives....many do just that on this sub forum...the only way the photo count goes up is if the thread is re-introduced and I think the same few lookers have another look....for an example when I put together photos of every Schrade Collaboration Set that had been made..one would expect they would have more than 20 odd lookers total <including re-inspections> at the photos..when have they ever all been photographed together with all their boxes and bling anywhere else at any time?.<not sure even Schrade photographed them all together?>>.same with all the Unique Schrades photos thread, and the Ticklers and the Happy Days knives threads..the scarce Schrade razors barely rated 10 lookers..<and 9 of those were me going back to check if anyone was interested>!...very little interest shown...just an observation and not a criticism..to each his own..I personally look at every Schrade photo thats ever been put up in the last 5 years on this forum by all contributors....maybe we just dont have many members at all as you suggest...and another observation....
Do we have even one lady member look at this site?.....and if not, how come Jamo and I got moderated so often for our good natured poor senses of Aussie humor?...I remember young Muskrat Man and the late Arnold all got banned and were all good lively contributors plus others...cant help the numbers can it? ..Without some lively discussion <and I dont mean members fighting>forums become a tad boring..we cant even really educate here and point out the differences between crapp clone Chinese items intentionally bearing honored Schrade tangs to confuse the unwary..I personally much prefer Bernard Levines' lively Forum and its humor and lively banter.. <whatever it is ..it isn't!> ..where you can also learn about fakes, counterfeits and bogus sellers etc......our Australian BF website died almost overnight due to moderating and members going to other websites........anyway onward and upward< if I dont get moderated again>.....Hoo Roo

I had a feeling that our little corner of the forum wasn't getting as much attention as it used to. Larry, I just want you to know that I think I am the opposite of what you described regarding pictures. Typically the pics are the first thing I look at and then I read the thread so I have some idea of what is being talked about. I have wondered too if the current economy has slowed us all down. Not a lot to talk about when people aren't acquiring new knives.

I hope things pick up soon. I miss hearing from everyone regularly. Especially as a young collector, I really value what all of you guys have to say. By the way Howie, I've been stumped on that 974 Congress more times than I want to count so great score!

Chuck

On the other hand I've tried to post pictures/photos and still can't get it figured out. It must be the program or the person trying to post them thats the problem. So, my interest is still there just most of you want photos to help diagnose a problem and answer the questions. I understand that. I'm still here, just a silent looker.

Someone out there likes pictures!
My site has over 43500 hits. For a web place that doesn't sell or have chats I think that shows a bunch of interest. I know Larry H and Michael account for a huge number of that count :D
Of course some of that interest does end up on e-bay in the description area but at least they are trying to look up some info. Dale's OT chart posted on AAPK recently made it to a e-bay showing the history of a 125 for sale.

Oh and Merry Christmas to all!

It was only the 2nd 974 I had seen and I was lucky to bring it home.

Larry and Dale
Your collaborative website was the first place where I found definitive info (and Pictures!) about Schrades. It's made my collecting experience so much more enjoyable. I spend a lot of time there also. I did see Dale's great chart in that auction - it set off about 10 of my watch lists - expecially the 2OT!!

Of course, I was then able to find this group and it's collective knowledge and cameraderie (and Pictures!)

Howie

Larry - Did you ever get in trouble when you were in school? And you are right. This forum seems to be in full swing when there were more lively discussions. I know for myself, my Schrade preferences for collecting have changed. I'd be a lot more active, if there were more older Schrades available. I still like to look at all of them.

Nice group of knives Howie!
I'm still here, although it is discouraging to get so few comments on my posts. Comments are encouraging. Even insults!:D Anything!!!:D:D

I'll admit, I seldom comment on post 1973 knives. I love 'em, but my area of interest is more the Schrade Cut Cos and Waldens.

It is a rare day when I don't have a peek here several times. I know that I should be posting more; I will try to do better. I am like Charlie and Hal in that my interests have migrated backward in time to the earlier knives.

I always come by and see what's new.

I just hardly ever have anything new to post.

But thanks to those that are posting!

Hal and Calvin, I can share your direction in interests going back in time, I just don't currently have the pocket book for them! But, if I can't have a crack at them, at least you guys are.

Chuck

Oh, I bet I didn't tell you guys, but I'm going to be dad again in April. My second little girl. Her first name will be Morgan, but we don't have a middle name yet.

That butter and molasses was $60 postpaid. I bought an 834 in bone for $27. Keep your eyes peeled.

Merry Christmas to all. Nice stuff Howie.

I really appreciate good photos; keep them coming! If I can't own 'em all at least I can see them here. Larry's site is invaluable. A lot of info has been lost but plenty gets saved here.

I like to think Schrade will be highly collectible for years to come because the quality seems timeless and sells itself. Also they are affordable and available. It will be interesting to see how many are being traded 20 years from now.
