Whereforeart Thou, Wharnies?

Nice! If I could carry fixeds at work I'm sure I would, and I'd have a bunch more options. But blah blah retail blah.

I'm the manager at a local pet food store. The owner doesn't care what knives I carry, as long as they're concealed when not in use. If she knew I carry a gun also, I'd probably get fired.

Here are a couple custom fixed blades by Jeff Diotte.

I really like this design

Nice! If I could carry fixeds at work I'm sure I would, and I'd have a bunch more options. But blah blah retail blah.

The fixed blade in the picture I posted is my "work knife" at a corporately-owned natural foods store with a strict "no weapons" policy. I made sure to bring it by my boss first, and explained why it's magnitudes safer than one of the push-up razors they issue by default.

It went something like:

"I sharpen my own blades, which means they don't get dull and snag and require extra force - which is how people generally injure themselves in that kind of situation. I also don't wave my knife around like a madman or even start to even pretend to use it as a weapon."

I'm so glad he's reasonable! He thought about it for a few seconds and said "Yeah, that's not a problem at all."

EDIT:

I didn't, but also could have, strengthen(ed) my case by noting that it's even better than bringing my own folding knives as those are inherently more dangerous (not dangerous inherently, but inherently more dangerous) and more noticeable to the general public because they require an opening and closing process, whereas my fixed blade can be drawn and sheathed very inconspicuously.

I really dig the look of the Quartermaster QSE-8.

Me too!!! But damned if I haven't read no shortage of just awful things about the company and the products and the service. It's lame, but I've learned to listen to the opinions of our brothers on this forum!

No pic but my favorite EDC is my Boker Haddock. I generally dislike wharncliffes and sheepsfeet unless the edge has some sweep. I find myself cutting with the tip mostly if the edge is straight.

The Leek has been an EDC favorite of mine. The regular style is a modified Wharncliffe, and the "random" one is more a reverse tanto:

There's also the ZT 0770CF and 0808 with their respective sheepsfoot and reverse tanto blades:

And who can forget the 0777 (not my knife in this pic - a friend was kind enough to let me check his out for a while):

The Benchmade 940 is also a slim favorite sporting a reverse tanto:

The Sebenza with Insingo blade is a very nice sheepsfoot as well:

One of my favorite traditionals is the GEC easy-open #15 w/ sheepsfoot blade:

The JYD2 is one of the larger sheepsfoot blades I have:

The Needs Works is just an oddly styled knife (although incredibly comfortable in use):

And of course, there's the TiLT:
