Wheres Ethan??

Ethan Becker is out saving your life right now . . . .:grumpy:

Uh, I'm not sure what Ethan is out doing at the moment. Heck, for all I know, he's still in Vegas, distracted by the flashing lights and little dingy bells.:D

Why so grumpy? He'll be here eventually . . . I hope.

Hmmmn. Come to think about it, it's been so long since he was here that I'm beginning to wonder if there really is an Ethan Becker. Maybe he's just a figment of our imaginations: a clever marketing ploy by KA-BAR — often referred to, but never actually seen.

Just kidding, Ethan: I know you exist.

It was a joke, sorry it was a little esoteric but still it's a joke and I used the grumpy face cause I don't see a serious face emoticon

Okay, I'll buy that, although it may have been a little too esoteric. Known and understood by few is one thing, but everyone scratching their heads is another.:D

Nope. No bland, serious emoticons that I can see either. Maybe a wink ;) would have worked for you?

Hey Everybody.....

I AM back at long last......It has been a loooooong summerI spent a couple of weeks going out to Napa Valley to help my cousin the wine maker raise a bunch of money to support pancreatic cancer research....Cousin Koerner Rombauer has a big Chardonnay release party every late july or early august and ALL the proceeds from the day's Bacchanal goes to the cause.....Soooo a big check is going to USCF very soon.....Koerners wife Joan died after a long (for pancreatic cancer) and painful battle...Joan was the second really great person I have known that suffered and succumbed to this quite horrid disease ....The first was Guru Bruce Crutchfield, my Bukti Negara teacher and a fine friend....Soooo I am always very happy to lend a hand..... Homeward bound, I was lucky enough to spend an evening with the ever clever Phil Gibbs in Fayetteville Arkansas and a lovely morning and lunch with one of the most knowledgeable humans I have ever known, A.G. Russell....A grand birthday present indeed !!!!!!!!......If you are ever in the area around Springdale and do NOT drop by the A.G. Russell store - question your knifeaholic status immediately....AG has an incredible eye and grand good taste in materials to boot.......And for what it is worth the only place I stopped in Nevada was Winnemucca, home of the Basque "Dinner Houses" I had a Lovely New York Strip and some of the best French Fried Potatoes I have ever had......Not so much as one quarter in the infernal slots....I swear.....Honest.....

Grand to be back and grand to be in touch once again......

All Best.......

Ethan, I can't begin to tell you how happy we are to have you back. I'm glad that your trip went well, and that there were some good times along the way. I'm not sure about Nevada, but if that's your story, then I'm sure that's the way it happened.;)

Anyway, welcome back. Oh, and by the way, Happy Birthday!

P.S. Did I mention Welcome Back?

Hey Bladite and Bob.....

Thanks,.......My favorite quote on gambling is from Matthew T. Macleid, esq. who when asked why he did not gamble replied that he DID gamble as he was a small business man and therefore gambled every day, he just did not gamble for recreation.......Personally, I had a couple of sharp lessons (two in Vegas) some decades ago, sharp enough to limit my gambling to small stakes poker in hunting camp.....And an occasional quarter or two in memory of my deceased mother- in -law who DID love to take a chance every now and then.....

All Best....

I like the quote, Ethan. Having been a small businessman for many years, I can identify with it. Almost all my gambling was simply out of boredom when I was in Vietnam. I wasn't very good at it (lost my . . . shirt). Nowadays, I buy the odd scratcher, but that's about it. Just never caught the fever, I guess.

Big E - glad to see you are back and safe. Tell John he really should change his mind ;)

All my little toys like my casio pathfinder 1500 and my knives come from my little side business selling tshirts and stuff online but it's slow earning until x-mas when I sell a buttload

I can understand. When I was in the advertising business, this was our Christmas time; July and August were when we put together campaigns that would run in November and December. This was the time of year when we made money off Christmas.

Best of luck.:)

Welcome back carter...err... I mean Ethan...
I ( we ) really really need a folding BK, please help, Josh.:D
