Where's the love for the 0301?

The 301 doesn't seem to get much publicity around here. Am I the only one that loves this knife despite it being over half a pound? Please by all means post up some pics or vids of the 301 getting a work out. The hardest use that mine has seen so far is prying some staples out of a piece of wood, but I know it can handle some crazy stuff. I'm not one for the "hard use" fad but this thing just begs for it.

Entertain me with your stories and pics/vids of the 301, please. Complaints are welcome as well, if you have any. Just don't bitch about weight. :D

PS: I know, this thread is useless - but I wanted to post it anyway. I get tired of looking at the same old threads on the 301. Plus, it's been a while since we've discussed it in depth.

I have a 0300, but you get the point :D

This knife has never developed blade play or lock movement at all. The lock up has stayed at about 70% its whole life. Ive been carrying it for well over a year, and I do things with this knife I wouldn't do with my fixed blades

This is so far the only folder I would trust with my life

CTS, lately my 301 has been enjoying quite a bit of pocket time. nothing too hard use, cutting up boxes, zipties, paper, and lately it's also been helping with trimming some bushes at the lake house and a couple of days ago I cut up the carpet in my closet at home. I'm doing some remodeling at the moment so I'll try and take some pics of the beast in action.

these pics i've already posted on other threads so forgive me if it bugs you. It's all I have for the moment.

I don't have any pics but my 300 is a daily use knife. Always in my pocket and nothing but abuse, the coating is scratched/worn and has developed zero issues. No play, no odd sounds always deploys smooth as silk. Iam a big guy so this big knife feels like normal size to me. I love it.

I been wondering the same thing. I need to sharpen mine, been using her, been my edc for almost a year and has helped me dig out a small stump, clear black berries and everything else a knife can be used for.

Here is a short vid using mine at the lake http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gfNrNCMito

Mine developed play and the torsion bar broke. Both were easy fixes though :)

I didn't like the stripes at first but it grew on me.

side to side or vertical?

My torsion bar broke once too, but Thomas sent me one out and it arrived in 2 days.

The 300 is the most comfortable knife to use that I own, but it doesn't get carried a lot because of the AO. If a manual version ever comes out, I'd be all over it.

I was going to take a carbide bit to make a detent for the ball, but it would void my warranty and I'm not about to do that. Plus Id image its hard to do perfectly.
If Kai ever came out with a manual version id be all over it though.

I f***ing love my 0301! It's riding in my right front pocket almost 24/7. I for one love the heft of the knife. It makes it feel very robust and sturdy. And as much as I hate sharpening the recurve, it goes through cardboard and packaging like a 5.56 through an insurgent. I think it's funny that people bitch about it's weight though. IF IT'S TOO HEAVY FOR YOU DON'T CARRY IT(What a concept!:p) OR GET A BELT. Ok you don't like heavy knives WE GET IT, now quit your whining and let's move on, lol. :D

However, I do wish it was on bearings with a detent like the 0560/0561/TILT. I would imagine that the single depth milling for the KVT bearings is faster, cheaper, and easier than the funny shaped multi-depth milling for The SpeedSafe Torsion Bar.

My 0301 is in a regular rotation with my 0551, and 0560. Love that knife.

The 301 is my favorite, bar none. I haven't put it to the test like I should have, but I have no doubts about it, being the bigger brother to the 350. And I gained new respect for my 350 just today, working to trim trees around the yard. It was snap cutting through branches about a half-inch in diameter with one swing. I've done this a lot with other knives, and I was shocked at how it went through. With that being just the 350, I have new faith in the 301.

The zt 301 is my friends favorite honey and to me, it's the one that got away (Since I sold it to him). I sold it to him when they where around 200 and then they jumped about $75. Yup I regret it.

I've come so close to buying one, so many times. The only thing that keeps me from doing so is the assisted opening. I've had a bunch of AO knives, replaced a bunch of torsion bars, and I just prefer a normal detent ball and opening.

As mentioned earlier, if it were changed to kvt, it would be very, very hard to resist.

Yeah im not with the price jump - Bought one at 189 then the next day they are almost 100 dollars more. Not sure if that is good for the longevity of the knife. I would hate to see these go in the void of discontinued because they have to be my favorite knife of all time. No complaints - just an opinion.

Why don't you just take out the torsion bar? Would that void the warranty?

If the torsion bar breaks on mine, it is quite likely I'll figure some way to put a detent hole in the blade, and go torsionless. Maybe. I really like the thunk of it opening under spring pressure, so ... Who knows? I MIGHT do both, detent hole AND replace the torsion bar. Probably be a BEAR to open then.
