I personally am pretty excited about this one. My first manix was the sprint in CTS-BD-30P and I love that one, but i havnt been seeing much on the forum about the manix 2 translucent blue. Anyone else have this guy pre-ordered?

Last I heard they were expected to ship the 15th, so if all goes well should have it in hand by next week.

I think the BD1 blade steel doesn't necessarily grab the attention of a lot of folks. It's a not a latest greatest super steel and there are times when the absence of such a thing seems to dull the interest in a knife for some people despite whatever other features or innovations the knife may offer. I'm keen on trying it since I love the Manix 2 platform and want to see the FRCP setup in action.

I know BD1 isnt the latest and greatest, but its supposed to be pretty good, and its keeping cost pretty down, so i cant complain. I think that my need for supersteels will be temporarily halted with the arrival of Farid's CPM-REX-121 folder. But the main aspect of this Manix 2 sprint that draws me in is the handles.

Also, I saw that BD1 is supposed to be slightly better in edge retention to 440C, so i wont feel under-equipped.

I agree that BD1 should be a good performer, and that it is playing a part in meeting a certain cost level. Still, I find myself thinking back to when the Manix 2 was announced and the reaction of folks to the fact that it was sporting a 154CM blade. Many people did not endorse that choice. Not just having a preference for something else but a tangible, at least to me, undercurrent of displeasure. There was more to it than just the steel but that was a bullet point in the conversation. While I don't sense that same thing with the FRCP Manix 2 I do feel like if it were shipping with something like S35VN or M390 then we would be seeing some more expressions of anticipation because the steel is often the first thing to grab our attention. Of course, later runs of the FRCP with different steel would figure to be a distinct possibility if the model does well.

Pinned construction ultimately turned me off...and a price similar to the bd30 Manix, I wouldn't necessarily call keeping the cost down..just my $.02

..atleast the one dealer that has them available now are priced that way

If I was 13 again, I'm sure I'd be excited over the idea, but I'm too much of an old fart to have any love for transparent plastic handles.

I believe MSRP is $120 for the blue FRCP. Street price among internet vendors would figure to be, say, $80 or little less. The BD30 versions went for around $130 after an MSRP of $175. Based on that I'd say a vendor charging $130 for the FRCP would be at a serious disadvantage with their pricing.

Yep, and the dealer who has the blue FRCP Manix 2 for $120 charges full MSRP for everything and has the BD30 one listed for $175. That's their right, but if someone is going to compare "street" prices of two or more knives, the only fair way to do it is to compare them from the same dealer.

Bingo Deacon. I feel the same way. Just can't warm up to it. Another one (for me) was the latest Sage. I wanted one so bad right up until the time I saw it was blue. Complete turn off. Again, this is just me. Guess I might break down someday and get one and see if I can put a black dye job on it.

I'm interested in this knife because ,I have a crap load of super steel knives(zdp,s90v,m390,rex 121 on the way,m4,m2,etc.....)I want some simple steels for a change, and the it's a beautiful and well priced knife .

I am with you guys about the color, but am looking forward to this version for another reason. I prefer lighter folders and have been considering purchasing a BM Grip with hole opener a grinding down the tip to a point. The lightweight Manix gives me exactly what I am looking for. I am in for one of these for sure.

Gpknives has it for $75 bucks + 5 for shipping. Seems pretty reasonable. Perhaps you could take Rit color remover and then re dye the handles?

I like the knife also, wish it had some s30v maybe that wouldnt increase the price too much but would also be a pretty good upgrade, and my favorite color is blue so would love to have one

Now it looks like it'll be shipping the 28th instead of the 15th. Im looking foreword to this one mainly because I dont have others like it, and Im always looking to expand the variety in my collection. I agree, I would love it to be sporting some 20CP, M390, or similar, but I am also excited to test the CTS-BD1 and see how it preforms, as I have no experience with it.
