Sounds like I need to make a new video. :D :D

Yes! And just for fun go for it and cut a single hanging hair this time instead of the sheet of paper.

Don't know how to capture this all on camera in one take, though.

What is the reason that you want a fast opening folder? If we are talking SD, then I would suggest waved Emersons and now the new waved Endura. IMHO, no folder open faster that a wave. The idea of a folder that opens simultaneously with the draw motion is very appealling.

Im actually surprised to be the first one to suggest this option.

Another vote for the Al Mar SERE 2000, the smoothest, fastest opening knife I've ever had.

Try any folder made by Larry Chew (with his Voodoo pivot).Larry Davidson uses this pivot also as well as Vagnino. The only problem for some people is these folders may open too easily. For instance if you're running or have to jump for some reason the folder might open in your pocket.I do'nt have any experence with Brad Duncun but I've heard his folders also open very easily. He also has his own patented sealed pivot.

I don't think there's one definitive answer to this question. Everyone is free to voice an opinion, but the size of a person's hand in relation to the size of the knife is what will tell the tale of how quickly it can be opened. With me, something small like my Delica is about the quickest. The Strider AR I recently tested on passaround, which is about 3X the size, takes me much longer because I have to reach farther and strech my thumb in an uncomfortable position. But someone with huge hands might find it much easier to open than the smaller delica. It's pretty subjective.

I have severe thumb arthritis (both thumb & hands). I find my BM420 with Axis and Manix the easiest for me to open one handed. Yes, the big Spyderco Manix is really that smooth.....William :)

That video is AMAZING! I am sold. I have to get one now. I haven't ever had a BM, but now's the time. I hope I like it. I know I will like the lock!

Don't want FAST... want EASY.

I have a BAD BAD BAD thumb. Arthritic. Had to get rid of my Spyderco Native as the angle was a killer. Delica....mm...mm...good.

Endura ...pretty....good.

:)

Fast opening is a strange criteria for a knife.

I only use a thumbstud or hole to open when I'm being polite in company...elsewise you flick her open, right? What don't I get? Over time you figure out what type of flick, you practice withdrawal from pocket and deployment, you loosen the pivot if necessary, grease her up if needed, re-adjust the pivot tighter if you're getting any lateral play, reposition the clip, etc.

Last month, somebody gave me a free promotional S&W folder from some cable supply company, I use it to open boxes, total POS, but I can have it out of my pocket and open faster than a lot of folks with more expensive "tactical" blades. That's what all the old guys know: autos are unnecessary, auto-assists are toys, focus on the ergonomics and blade steel and lockup.

Ooops, flicking might be painful, plus then you have to close with your thumb, I guess.

Ever try a Chinook II? Very comfy.

From personal experience I can assure you that a knife with an axis lock...

I agree, the BM 710 was the easiest to me.

Use the thumb stud, or pull back on the Axis lock, or just flick it open.

IMO, you can't do that with the small axis lock blades.
