I am starting to really appreciate the smaller Spydercos like the Delica. I always thought they were too small but I find myself carrying that size more and more and carrying the larger knives in my collection less and less.

Recently I got a Calypso III and I have been dead impressed. I have been a Spyderco fan for years and I have owned many knives but this one really impresses me. It is just such a neat little package that I find that it is starting to replace almost all my other knives.

I have also started buying other 3" Spydercos to see what they are all about. I have always like the Delica IIIs but now I have got a ZDP-189 Jess Horn and a D-4. I like the Jess Horn more than I thought I would. It is light and pointy like the old D-3 but it is ZDP so it should be a great knife to test out in the future.

Right now, I am a Caly III guy. I have a Mini Manix as well but that is too large to be in the same class as the Jess Horn and D-4 so I don't consider it an option if we are talking about small 3" folders.

It's a shame that the new Delicas have blades greater than 3"; there are legal considerations in my area that forbid knives with blades longer than 3". Anyway, my all time favorite knives are the Delica 2 and Delica 3, bar none.

I have two Delica 4's. SS and Zytel both are about 2.8". Give one of those a try.

My favorite sub three inch at the moment is the Calypso 3. I love the fell of this knife. It will probably change sometime during the year as the new knives come out.

I like my Delica 4's a lot. I recently got a Jess Horn and then a Caly III as well. I've only had the Caly 3 for a couple of weeks so it's still a little early to decide if I'm going to use it as hard as my Delicas. The Delica 3 was a real workhorse for me. When I got my D4's, I sort of missed the "pointy", but in real life, it hasn't impacted me near as much as I thought it would:) I got the Jess Horn more "because":) I didn't think any made it up here:eek: AND because I wanted to monkey a bit with ZDP:)

That's an easy one. It is the Rhino Horn Lil Temperance with the Manix Jr. running a very close second. I am surprised that I am the first one to mention the Lil T

Also maybe I am being guilty of duplicity because I do carry a Burgundy Calypso Jr ZDP-189 daily as well.

You are correct. Sorry for the misinformation about the Delica- the length to bring above a 7" overall length was added to the handle, not the blade. Sorry for any misinformation on my part. Still, 7" is a legal limit in some jurisdictions for knives (overall length), where some go by the blade length.

Caly 3. It's a great knife that speaks for itself. On top of that, IMO it has no real competition from any other maker, for its particular niche. Not too many knives you can say that about.

Runner up: waved Delica 4. All the merits of the classic delica, superior 4-series build, and the wave. What's not to like?
