Which Aftermarket BK14 Sheath Do You Recommend?

Hello all,

When I got my 14 I was surprised to see the big, obtrusive, unexpected blade lock thingy. I hadn't seen it in any, I mean not one, picture on here or anywhere. So, being the tinkerer I am, I decided it must be unnecessary and cut it off with my dremel. Welp, turns out it was where most of the retention came from because now there's very little provided by the sheath alone. I want to carry and use my 14, but first I have to be confident I won't lose it or worse.

So, what aftermarket sheath do you suggest? I have never really pocket carried fixed blades, but I'd like to try clip pocket carry. I also know that I like scout carry, and am okay with normal or IWB carry. I like the look and feel of leather, but the retention and size of kydex.

I have checked out Azwelke, Coyle, Grizzly, and a few others I can't remember. Honestly, I wasn't sure of most of their ordering systems and some seemed over priced. I'm definitely open to true custom makers, because I am sure I could get a custom for the price of some of those semi-custom outfits.

I'd love any advice, information, etc.

Thanks!

There's that case leather horizontal sheath on the river in s. America website for about 8-10 bucks...

I will say though that I just got a AZwelke sheath with leather strap for my 11 and it is really really nice. Taco style!

What you received is one of the newer model sheaths. The older ones don't have that and are designed to retain the knife without it.

Also check out 710 Custom Sheaths.

Nice sheath that fits the 14 very well and can be found for about $8 shipped.

I highly reccomend coyle outdoors, he is an amazing person, and beckerhead who does excellent work. I also highly recommend azwelke, I have a taco sheath from him for my 14 and I love it

I had the "taco" style BK14 sheath from azwelke with a night ize clip stuck to it. It worked very well for carry in my right front pocket. It was a very nice sheath and Azwelke was easy to work with, with the only caveat being, the wait. I could of edc-ed that setup easily, but in the end I wanted something different than the BK14 for everyday use.

recently picked up a Azwelke sheath for my bk14 with factory scales - very happy with the quality and retention

Just takes a bit of extra love to make it a great sheath
I heard it doesn't have real reliable retention. Is that true?

Yup comes with hardware and screws right in. If u want to take a step further, I cut a black plastic rectangle out of a 3 ring binder folder, make a inch or so loop, and screw it in between the sheath and clip, making a lightweight fire steel holder. Works great.

BHK Battle Horse knives the #5 sheath fits the knife very well
You can get it hip, dangle or necker, all with or without a steel loop

I am using the dangler
The sheath turns the knife in to a usable belt knife
Adds a lot of usage
