Which Battle Mistress?

Yes......I agree with minority here, CG IS/WILL be better than FAT. The fat does hv a lot of cool factor, but the weight in practical use, CG, at least for me fits better in hand for long term use for choping jobs.

BUSSE don't come out with bevel the thickness for nothing. It was a well thought out move from Jerry. Well....most of time he is not sober anyway...:P

The only correct answer is to buy both. Use the fatty in your primary hand and the CG in your off hand.

It ain't on the level if it ain't got those bevels. :p

OR

It ain't all that if it ain't sportin' fat. :D

Now I'm confused.

Yeah, but hailing from Virginia, you have that wiry hill strength. :D

Chubby is the way...

lol you guys are a laugh

I'd love to buy both but I would get so flogged by the missus it wouldn't be very funny, unless of course you were watching said flogging.

The fella hasn't replied to my email regarding the knives but I assume he's still selling.

Both are the same price, but I'm having a hard time picking it out.

I was leaning towards the fatty but now I'm leaning towards the CG.

maybe I'll buy one and then work up the courage to buy the other.

thanks for the help again

Hey Waldganger,

I saw your thread and had a chuckle. small world, eh? (no, we don't know each other)

"the fella" is away at the moment, I think. He told me you had dibs on one of them, so I'm just waiting to buy the other one.
(to help keep the peace, of course):D

Either one would be grouse and bring a smile to ya face whenever you picked it up. That's my theory. There are pros for each. If you are lugging a large chunk of deer or other carcass back to camp, then knife carry weight may not be the primary concern.

ok folks if the fighting continues we will have to lock down this thread. So please try to get along.

The Fat is awesome!

But, I will admit, luggin' it around all day is not fun. What I really need to do, is get me some of those porters that scale Everest, and have them pack it for me.

That or rub some of Barry Bonds' Mystery Cream all over my calves and thighs so I don't become fatigued totin' this thing around all day.. LOL!

Instead of moderating, I was wondering if one of the Battle Mistress experts (I'm not naming any names here) might weigh in on this debate. :D

I have used both, and find the CG to be much, much more comfortable and efficient to use. The FFFBM sticks deep and wedges tight with nearly every swing, making the process much longer and more tedious. The CG may not bite as deep due to weight, but the convex main bevel with the corrugations really keep the blade from sticking in the wood, and the knife still has plenty of heft to chop deep and effectively. Not to mention it is less tiresome to swing repeatedly. My handle choice would be mags with the pattern sanded off. The handle shape stays in my hand fine without them, and the pattern eats away at my hands, so I sanded it away.

Another plus is that the coating on a CG only wears to the corrugations with regular use, making it more attractive when it becomes more seasoned:

I've chopped a lot of wood with both, not just played around with them, but really worked with them, and the CG was way ahead as a user.

I got a FFBM at Knob Creek and love it.
Like others have said, it's cool.
Either would be great though !
Got magnum handles with mine because I have very large hands.

Sag.

I don't know if I have "VERY" large hands, but I wear XL in gloves. I MUCH prefer standard. I was a mag person first, then I got a SHBM and it put all the pieces in place and Standard handles are the ONLY ones I would have now.

Awww.....that is just EASY for you to say because you have a SHBM:foot:

I have the fatty and it seems to be an overkill for hunting / short camping trips. It is a very cool knife but unless you really need to chop s/g during the trip it is too much weight to carry for "just in case" scenarios.

Hey SteelisReal, you on the other forum?

I've decided to go with the CG. With any luck my incharge rates will go through next pay and I'll put my money in for it.

Then I need a Mrs and GW and a ......................................

goodbye savings plan

Yeah, Mate. That's me on that other forum :)

You have a severe INFIstation of the Busse disease.

Good call on the CG, I reckon. We always think we "need" another one, but they are simply tough, cool looking knives and we want them 'just because'.

Think I'll get the FFBM to keep it in reserve for possible Zombie invasions, lol.
I may have to lay hold of a CG FBM & AD myself, for actual use. 'Just because'.
