Which Benchmade are you carrying today?

Wiredbeans, I'll say it to your edges are ridiculous. You do them yourself if so what are you using?

This. What are you using to get those edges?

Both of these--just stupidly gorgeous, man. We're headed to our Vermont cabin in the woods for a much needed respite in a couple hours and I'll have all my sharpening and maintenance stuff with me along with a dozen or so knives. It's a great place to zen-out and work on blades and action. I just now threw my user 710 in the bag and am gonna aim for a WB edge on it when I'm up there. I'll use the EdgePro along with the narrow stones I have to keep the recurve as it should be.

Today it's the 710 I said I was going to put an edge on like wiredbeans' while I was up here in Vermont. I wanted to put a fairly broad edge bevel on it, but settled for 18 degrees as I had a 20 and didn't want to spend all day on that tough as nails D2. After an hour on the EdgePro I still wasn't at the Apex, so I went up to 1000 grit and polished that. I put a 20 micro on it with the SharpMaker and ran that over a green-loaded strop. My old workhorse is pretty damn sharp now.

Lol you guys are great!, I been doing sharpening for 10+ years ;) check out my instagram: glassedge I just started with instagram.... I'm old school lol :) I'm in Canada thou... that 710 is at 17 dps and that produced a pretty wide bevel because of blade thickness; but Benchmade's heat treat on the D2 is great, edge holds well with minimal chipping. Edge pro apex was what I use upto about 3 years ago and then i bit the bullet and got the Pro2 set up with a lot of xxfine stones and strop to 0.1 micron will generally give you something that sparkles for a long time. Wicked edge is great, I don't have to flip and hold the same angle and position all the time. I normally spend 2~3 hours per knife to make sure all the grind lines are out in each progression.

Mailman brought this today and I've been carrying it for the second half of the day...Helluva knife, I can't believe I slept on this one for so long... I'm considering dying the green scales black but I'm wondering if it would be possible to get a charcoal gray for a little contrast, however I'm not sure if that would work over the dark green. On the other hand, this one seems like it might be a great candidate for custom scales (CF perhaps?)...Loving it so far!

In San Francisco this week with their amazing knife laws so... Not carrying anything as everything I own would be illegal here.

Funny that I probably need something on me to use as SD here more than any other place within 20 miles

Finally pulled the trigger and got a 940-1cf.
Just a quick question to put out there. Does the 940-1 seem bigger (from spine to cutting edge) than my 940 are they all like that I don't think I sharpened away that much steel from my 940. Not sure how long I've maybe 4-5yrs bought it from reputable store. Now the 940-1 I just got from Amazon. Thanks in advance for any help

In any case fell back in love with the 940 all over again which prompted me to get the 940-1 and 940-2 is on its way

The 940 is a great all around knife and the 940-1 is so light. Have you used a 484-1 before? The Nakamura feels amazing in hand, one of my favorites.
