Thanks for the compliment!

The etching involves covering all the important areas (pivot, where washers touch, axis lock area, etc) with a protectant and then dipping it in acid. For the protectant I use nail polish but I've also heard of people using hot glue or something else. The acid I use can be found at radio shack. If you want more details you can shoot me a pm.
After the acid you stone wash it, which can produce a ton of variation depending on the media and duration of time. It's a fun process.
