Hey yall,

I currently have a SOG Twitch XL Tini and a SOG Visoinary 1. I love the Arc lock on the V1 but Im fairly diasppointed with the fit and finish of it. Im now considering a few different benchmades. Im open to other suggestions: perferably 3" blade and <$125

mini grip
doug ritter mini grip
mini presidio 525BK (aluminium handles)

What do yall think is the best option? This will be an EDC and weight is somewhat of an issue. Fit/ lock up is the top priority. Also who is the best retailer for benchmade?

Thanks in advance

The Benchmade 707 sequel makes for a mighty fine EDC. :-) As far as online Benchmade vendors go, I have always received great service from Knifeworks.

it's 0.4" longer than you want, and about $75 more expensive, but I guarantee you will have a hard time replacing it with something better.

I'd look for a 940 here on the forums (perhaps a pre-loved one). Best edc blade by benchmade for my money.

Though it may not be an obvious choice, and it is a little bit longer than 3"--let me suggest the BM Bone Collector 15020; I have the one with the walnut handles and I really love it... if, however, you prefer a smaller lighter knife for edc, then the mini version (15030) might worth a look.

I carried an AFCK for the 5-6 years I was in LE. A great knife, just the right size & blade shape. Its now semi retired since I am also retired and carrying mostly slip joints.

Standard mini grip... Buy it, love it. Ritter mini grip if you can swing it.

707 would be a step up, with a more robust blade and more premium handle materials BUT if you decide to make it your daily user, that pretty scale gonna get dinged up some'n ugly!

These are winners and not very expensive.

I love this thread already.

Take the normal Mini grip - it's small and Not that expensive i also use one - just Great maybe.

If you want something higher quality go with the 940 but Even better (Steel , Price , handlings) Take a paramilitary 2 hehe ;)

I edc Benchmade 755 mpr,it is a little robust but for me works great.

I like the 940/943 for EDC also. Their slim design takes up less space in a pocket. Weight? These knives are all featherweights.

The BM940 always got my vote until I added Wilkin's and Cuscadi Scales to the Ritter Mini Grip. Now it competes with my Striders and CRK for pocket time. I say get a mini-Grip and if you get bored with it add better scales.
Weight is 2.85 oz with the Micarta and 3.2 oz with the G10.

I would say a Benchmade 470 Emissary. It is a 3 inch blade, S30V steel, and assisted opening. It is pretty expensive, but if you shop around you can get it for under 130 (check out Cutlery Shoppe, use BM25 and Nutnfancy codes and you can get it for $127.50 shipped!). Plus you can't beat Benchmade's customer service and life time sharpening.

As others have mentioned, the 940 is probably the best edc knife out there. The only down side are the 470 and 940 are almost to nice to use.

I am a SOG fan as well! Have you checked out the SOG Aegis? You can get one on Amazon for 45 bucks!

Good luck with what ever knife you decide on.

Doug Ritter Mini-Grip
I've got 2 myself M2 & M4 models; excellent for EDC.
Even where blades should be at a minimum.
Small and unassuming, but it's still got a good sized blade that's up for any task.
It almost disappears in the pocket.
Excellent knife.
