Which Blade Cuts Better?

I usually carry a custom for my EDC but wanted a CRK in the rotation. I had a hard time choosing between the sheepsfoot and the tanto. I think the tanto looks the best and its what I really wanted... but for everyday utility I have a feeling the sheepsfoot is the most effective. I did not want the regular style blade. I chose the sheepsfoot for everyday cutting. I would like to know your thoughts on this. The link below shows the knife I chose. Its the mini version with double lugs.

I also considered getting the large version because I like the feel and weight of large blade when opening, but hopefully the small one will feel significant enough. I have never had one of these before.

Make sure the small is enough knife.... Regardless of the blade shape, handle both before you buy, Bart

I think the sheepsfoot (Insingo in CRK terminology) is a very useful blade shape. I would certainly pick it over a tanto for an EDC blade. Personally I would go for the large but large vs. small is totally a personal decision.

I already placed the order but can probably talk to Neil tomorrow about it if I wanna go for the large one.

The edge geometry is basically the same on both knives, the tanto having a much stouter tip and the low, slimmer tip on the insingo would be the only difference worth pointing out. They will cut the same in regular EDC use but those points will give you notably different piercing abilities, I would have gone for the large though. ;)

Alright guys, I sent a request to change the order to the large one with double lugs.. thanks for the influence! I am probably better off this way. The one I will get does not have the blue anodizing which I like... but oh well.

Generally a sheepsfoot blade has a straight edge, which the insignio does not have. IMHO, the curve makes it more useful.

A large Sebenza with double lugs is a superb choice. :)

Agreed 100% hence my decision to try one of these out. Had it been a full straight wharncliffe I don't think i'd find it nearly as useful or worth it. The curve on this drew me in. I love tanto blades but I don't think they are as practical and when I carry them its a bit awkward to cut with.

Heres the large one.

Oh yeah. Large Insingo micarta inlays. That's got to be the perfect EDC good choice.

I'd have stuck with the small, but either is a great choice in that configuration. You will love it.

Excellent choice. My first Sebenza 21 was a small clip point and I recently got a large Insingo. It's wonderful!

Its official. The large one is on its way. I would have liked it to have the blue anodized accents but you can't win em' all.

The large looks and feels very big to start with but the small you use it and play with it the smaller it seems to become. Until it somehow feels the perfect size, the small is nice in it's own way but it almost feels like a miniature/ toy after,

Well, I guess I'm different because I prefer the small sebenza for edc over the large. I own a few of each but rarely carry the large versions. My small Gold Leaf is in my regular rotation of EDC's. I do carry a large CRK when camping, along with a custom fixed blade for heavy chores and food prep.

Hey good to see you here. Its been a while since I carried anything other then a custom from either Don Hanson, JWS, Emerson etc. I am hoping a custom knife guy can really appreciate one of these. I have read alot about the outstanding action and fit. Dons is still my go to #1 EDC but i'll have some fun with this too. Hope its not TOO large.

The large is unique. It is a decent sized knife, but is a lot lighter than you expect. Let us know what you think.

I think you made the right choice and I think you will like the silver lugs, the blue wears off fairly quick. The large is significantly uh ... larger but I find I carry more than the small.
