Which blade did you carry at the gathering?

I'm trying not to pester everyone to discuss the tweeners, but with so many people at the Gathering I'm really hoping to read more thoughts. Sounds like the BK5 was the belle of this ball, though... nothing wrong with that, it's just that I'm super interested in the Tweeners.

Here is the real question... Do you like the camptweener more, or less than your beloved BK2? Are they even comparable in how they feel?

Any comparison shots of them as well?

Different fish all the way around, brother. It would be like trying to compare two completely different knives. This isn't the first time I've carried or played with the tweeners, and to be honest, I was mostly carrying it this weekend to check out the Spartan sheath.

The tweeners are gonna be a NEW knife, unlike anything you've seen BKT do before. Taking BKT into a whole new realm of knifedom(real word, look it up). Universal comes to mine, and a damn fine fit in just about any enviornment. From large to small hands, from firement to elk hunters, this knife will fit the bill. Bushcraft? Oh hell yeah, it'll bushcraft. Pics? There are plenty to look at, and like a good knife, it was simply there for the weekend. When I needed it, I drew it, when I didn't, it just stayed in the sheath. I had my hands full trying to get pics of everyone and everything, not to mention have a little fun myself, so, no pics from me.

Do I love it more? No, just love it differently.

Did you guys get to keep those BK5's they loaned you for the weekend?

Yes, they did.

Moose

obviously I carried the BK5 for the competitions, but the knife that saw almost exclusive use outside that was my BK14 -- and it got borrowed a lot, too. (Beer opening duties were performed by my SAK Forrester)

Thanks for the responses guys, and thanks for putting up with my questioning :D.

I figured it would be different feeling, but was just wondering if it would become your "go to" knife which I know has been your BK2 for most things.

Sounds like they are the knives that I want for scout carry, seeing how the BK2 is a bit heavy for that most of the time.

Also... they handed out BK5's? That is very, VERY generous of whoever donated them (ethan? KaBar?). Sounds like you guys had a heck of a time out there :D.

If you competed in the cutting competition and didn't have a BK-5, you got a BK-5. When it was all said and done, folks were told, "Keep the BK-5."

The drop point twiner is gonna be SWEET.........Gonna skin like the devil, do all your bush crafty stuff, prep your food and do everything you really gotta do pretty flawlessly......Strong enough to baton, delicate enough for major surgery....Etc,etc, etc......I have wanted ThIS knife since I was about 14 or15......That is a half century wait......I am anxious......Took and I had a long talk today and he has had in his hand the second proto with the cut outs under the scales and he really likes the heft and balance..... Ethan

I handed my BK5 off to the woman to own. As a result I carried a combo of different blades. The lg knives rotated between my BK10 and BK9 and the small were either my Esky or my Todd Hunt patch knife. For the folder I had my Benchmade Bone Collector. I carried the Cleaver around a lot, but it didn't get any real use.

Bad cellphone shot of my Esky and Todd Hunt patch knife I carried at the gathering.

I mostly carried my Hibben Tiger Shark - straight utilitarian no-nonsense blade.

I only carried it when I had my full ninja suit on - so most didn't get to see it.

(I'm the one that cut Moose's hammock down)

My first ever response from Ethan!!

Thanks for the thoughts on the tweeners. Like I said, I think that this will end up being my preferred belt knife for most activities, and I owe it all to you for making your grail knife available to everyone.

THANK YOU!

I started with a BK2 and thanks to Moose, I switched to a BK5 and the 14 I won at the competition.

Biscuit -
You've insulted my go to blade for the last time.
I challenge you to a fantasy knife-off.
Lemme get my cloak ... you're going down.

yeah, but is that the model with the tactical concrete sheath?

Double... nay... triple suckage.

esp since that tweener got a Fisk edge yes?

Don't forget the sheath. No doubt, within about 45 minutes, the entire sweet combo fell into my lap unexpectedly. I ain't complainin'. Just yankin' Moose's chain.

mmm, happy birthday dude :)

same to moose, for whenever. enjoy the khuk i gave ya :) i want pictures of the thinned edge!!!

oh yeah, and i gave a couple more out and some other stuff from the personal stash...

as for weekend carry, mostly a Helle Temegami, a Hogue folder, and a Zombie folder.

plus i used Ethan's chicken tractor as a demo station, had some very rare Beckers out, from Warriors and original pre-blackjack models to BK8 and other wacky stuff

really enjoyed getting the high edges taken off the BK2 and BK5 by Jerry Fisk... also took off the coating in places. now they look like Badgers with stripes. the BK2 has Flexxx's yellow liners and yellow paracord, so i guess it's a honey badger :>
