Which brand makes the best peanut?

Title says it all. Inspired by Jackknife's posts, I'm looking to buy a peanut as an edc. Which company makes the best (non-stainless) peanut? Pictures, as always, are more than welcome. Thanks!

I'm partial to Planters... :) Only got a Case CV and some older knives. The Case is a nice little knife.

There may be a better brand... I don't know. But with all the selection that CASE offers, beyond the fact they are just fine little knives, I would not (and did not!) look any farther than CASE.

You mean somebody else besides Case makes peanuts?

:D

Carl.

I have a Ka-Bar Peanut (Oxymoron?). The blades are in the wrong places though.

Schrade made a peanut-like pattern in the Old Timer line, the 12OT. Carbon steel, incredibly consistent fit and finish, common and affordable in the usual secondary markets. Better made than, but not as fancy as, my similar Case knives.

The lower knife is Santa Fe Stoneworks / Camillus that isn't bad either, but not sure if it's carbon or stainless.
(top knife is a Bear MGC)

Absolutely

That little 12OT runs circles around a Case peanut IMO. I sure would like to find one of those NIB.

You can typically buy an unused, USA-made, pre-2004, carbon steel 12OT for about the same price as a new yellow Case.

Model OTC72 (Old Timer Classic peanut with bone handles) is a two-blade top-notch beauty, but the OTC series was stainless.

Too bad Boker doesn't do a peanut in any of their carbon steel series; their quality lately has impressed the heck out of me, especially considering the price. Or maybe they do make one?

I picked up a genuine 12OT tonight with unusual green Delrin handles for $27.

That's not teasing though.

This is teasing:

My first 12OT was purchased on closeout in 2004 for $10.99. :D

Although it's not being made any more, I'm kind of partial to Schrades 707UH. This one has been in my pocket every day for at least five years.

Nice little knife. There was a similar Old Timer also, in carbon steel, the 106OT "Grandfather". Not really a peanut though. "Serpentine pen knife" might be accurate.

(I'm still working to improve photography skills)

Those old Schrade pocket knives were somoe very very nice little edc knives. I wonder why the small scissors never got real popular in this country like over in Europe?

Did any of the other older knife companies, like Hammer Brand, Empire, Keen Cutter, make scissors as a second blade?

Carl.

I believe I've got a SAK with the scissors too, but I cant prove it at the moment until I find it again. :o
Yes, Those little Schrades are very nice. In fact, I bought a second one a while back when I found it on the "bay." Had to have a back up in case anything happened to my current one. ;)
