The 55 and the 110 Sporting Version are the Folders Next on my List. The 55 Looks like a Good Mesium Size between the 110 and the Small pocket knives Like the Lancer.I am a fixie person, a 117 with upgraded steel, they still had some at C& C. Or a 112 with finger grooves in Magnacut from the custom shop. I am slo getting more used to the 55, it is small but a convenient size for cuts and ease of carry.
If you haven’t already done so, take note of the 503 as well. It has the same dimensions as the 55 but with a drop point blade and nickel silver bolsters. I was also looking at the 501. The 55 is small, more of a gentleman’s knife to me.If you haven’t already done so, take note of the 503 as well. It has the same dimensions as the 55 but with a drop point blade and nickel silver bolsters. And a slightly different look.
I'm getting a real itch for a 701, but can find very little on it overall. How do you like it? how is the F&F and snap? I have a really nice one sitting in he cart right now, but haven't jumped yet.The 700 series knives ran from about 1979-2001. As a result, Buck made a ton of them. They are still not too difficult to find in excellent condition at a reasonable price.

Oh I love it! F&F is Very Good to Excellent. The snap on the Clip blade is a little softer than the other two blades but they all have good snap. No half stops.I'm getting a real itch for a 701, but can find very little on it overall. How do you like it? how is the F&F and snap? WOW! Thanks so much for the quick reply! The one I have in cart is the old script buck. no box or paperwork, but it's in unused condition and looks really really good.Oh I love it! If you have a nice one in your cart, I highly recommend hitting the buy button before somebody else does. It’s a wonderful knife and they are getting harder to find in good condition. Get one while you can still get a nice one.
700s are nice to collect because they're good knives and there aren't that many to collect. There are variations like script tang and block shield, block tang and script shield, etc. And there are the etched ones. I don't get into customs that much with slipjoints unless Buck did it but I do have a few. There are a few others like stag, jigged bone, and brass bolsters. There are also advertising ones.I bought it. Now I'm sitting on the matching 703 and 705, English scrip in excellent condition. I think I might like the collection of all 5 like this.
Although I've never seen one in person, I like the design. It looks to have that nice Buck "chunkiness" to it and has the more classic pocket knife look. I did see where you could get thrown down the rabbit hole with collecting all the variations! I also noticed the prices are all over the place!700s are nice to collect because they're good knives and there aren't that many to collect. Yes, people don't see them and so they think they are super rare. But they made a lot of them. They are all over the place in the right venues. I just made a list of all the ones that I think exist (except private customs). There aren't that many, compared to other knife models. If you take the Yellowhorse and advertising ones off the list, the list is even shorter:Although I've never seen one in person, I like the design. I Started my Buck Knife collection with the Buck 110 Folding belt Knife. I Picked up many Versions over The Years Such as finger grooved Buck 110, Plastic Buck 110, etc. etc.
I Purchased Lancers and Mini Buck 425 Folding Knives for ease of Pocket Carry.
I am a Proud Owner of the 650 Nighthawk for a Rugged fixed blade.
I am Not Sure what do Purchase next.
I like the More classic folders So I have been considering the 55 Model.
I Also appreciate the Ease of carry of their small and Lightweight models like the 305 & 425.
I Have Never tried the custom shop so Maybe I should build a 110??? Truth be Told I am happy with the Original.
What do you Recommend???
I am okay with Seeking out discontinued models so Do not feel limited to their up to Date catalog!
