Which Busse EDC and Why?

I've got my eyes on a fat gw in the future.

Just a little heads up, it's an awesome knife, feels great. But might be a bit too thick for every day tasks, unless your everyday tasks are stabbing and prying.

Still I mis mine, and I got swampwarden on me when I don't edc a folder.

AZTimT has the right tip with the SAR-3. I used 600 grit, but the results are the same... MUCH better!

...I usually carry a Fireman's SAK and a good custom folder; either one of my Hinderer XM-18's or my Mosier small Fusion framelock flipper these days...but occasionally when I feel like stickin' it to the Man (just joking, open carry fixed blades are allowed here in PA. :)), I'll carry SAR-3LE #27 and as soon as I can find a pocket sheath for it, this .170" thick custom GW variant below with a slimmer handle and will join the rotation. I've had it for a few years, but I believe that now's the time to put it to good use. I carry many others near my house when I'm walking in the woods, but I feel that most Busse's are not really "suitable" for public carry in my neck of the woods, even if legal and not many LEO's are fully aware of the laws concerning knives here, so having to explain that "Busse Combat" is the name of the company and not what the knife is for, LOL, is not always a plus when trying to explain that it's carried as a tool and not a weapon. Also, not many who live around here carry a folder let along anything fixed, and the closer to Philadelphia I know I'll be, the less I feel comfortable carrying one on me when a folder will do.

...Of course, inside the city limits of Philly, you can't legally carry a cutting tool of any kind w/o a damn good reason, so a folder takes up less space in the glove box when I have to take it off and leave it behind.

Over here you need a good reason to carry a fixed blade .... something relevant to the time of carry .... so going deer stalking in the morning would'nt cover a trip into town in the afternoon for groceries .... other than that an EDC needs to be a slip joint less than 3 inches ... I always carry a small SAK on my key ring ... got to be my most used knife. I have others such as a UKPK by spyderco and a few of the bigger SAK's with more tools and a leatherman Juice. They all comply with our EDC laws.

For EDC a SAK of some description just "works" ....

If I carry a small fixed blade for tasks ... the Basic 5 is ideal. I don't see any benefit in going smaller as my folders cover these type of chores.

My thanks to everyone for your EDC thoughts and comments. I've sanded the SAR-3 handles a bit (wet/dry paper under the tap to keep the nasty micarta dust down and to expose the color pattern) and it does make quite a difference - still working on it and trying to get used to the different finger grip from my accustomed GW. I also plan on rounding the butt end of the micarta similar to that on the SAR-4. I appreciate the SAR-3's features you all have pointed out - its stoutness, jimping (which I'd thought of doing on my GWs), and NM treatment.
Bottom Line: the Culties will reside in the kitchen and with my camping mess gear. The thin GWs will be reserved for light office/urban EDC duties. And either the SAR-3 or my thicker satin/tiger .175 GW for the more demanding outdoor/garden/workshop/weekend EDC environments.
Oh, and I always have a SAK on me to accompany whichever Busse I EDC - I guess I just don't think of it as a knife.
Thanks again to everyone!
