which Busse for an ARMY Combat Medic in the 'Stan?

The SJTAC isn't exactly small - it's about the same length as the tank buster.

I like the idea of the High Street - it's thin enough to be a decent slicer when you put a proper edge on it, and the choil is actually useful unlike most EDC-sized Busse's.

I'm with LVC...a Leatherman Charge with a bitkit, and a Cultellus would probably be perfect, though the Scrofa might be great for cutting though dense material such as webbing or BDU's.

MOAB. Scare the pants off of any insurgent. (For that matter, it'd scare the pants off of germs trying to infect a wounded soldier's lacerations.)

Personally I think a Tank Buster would be about the perfect size, not really too big or too small and should cover 99.9% of anything you would need a knife for, the other 1% could be taken care of with a Strider SmF. When I was in the USMC I usually carried between a 6" and 8" fixed blade.

When a friend of mine went over with the Army he was limited to a 6" blade max. He told me they were using a dollar bill to measure the length. As long as the blade wasn't longer than the dollar bill, it was good to go. He ended up taking a Swamp Rat M6 Custom. But he isn't a medic, and he wanted a 5.5"-6" blade.

So +1 for checking with his superiors before getting a knife.

If it was me, I would probably take my BATAC. Or a Ratmandu if I had one, but those seem to be kind of hard to come by.

And a multitool.

In a Spec Ops sheath.

THERE ARE TWO RMDs FOR SALE RIGHT NOW IN THE FOR SALE FORUM. It's a shame I can't spring for one until I get paid. Figures. I always have bad timing on this particular knife.

Oh, the new PC Military... LOL

When I was in we could carry anything we wanted including Machetes if we choose too. ;)

But then it was different times back in the 80's, long before PC.

Can't think of any use for a multi-tool or even a folding knife when I was in except maybe to ad more weight.

Basic 3, 4, 5. What about the Sus Scrofa? I think it would be good due to it's size and blade shape.

thanks for the suggestions everyone.

I'll look closely at an AD/BAD/Meaner.

unless of course someone has a free SHBA

;)
