I'm thinking of picking one of these up for my next purchase.

I have been enjoying the long, thin blade of my Small Toothpick, so I like that idea.

However, the regular model seems to be more hand-filling and with stronger blades, which I also like.

To those of you who've handled both, which one do you prefer to carry and use?

my favorite pattern (to date) is the case mini-trapper
2 blades, 3.5 inches long...just perfect
also comes in both CV or SS and with a buncha choices in scale material

slimline trapper looks cool, but if your gonna do that why not just go sodbuster or opinel?
just my 2 cents

I'll play. I really like the slimline pattern. I own 3. All Case brand. I find the slim blade very appealing for my day to day use. Kitchen duty, fish cleaning, skinning, general light duty chores. Light weight and rides in the pocket of my Levi's, barely noticeable. I bought a Buck Trapper, one of the Chinese assembled ones with the wooden handle, and though well put together and extremely sharp out of the box, I just did not take to it like I had hoped. A little too big and chunky and slides down in my pocket. I do keep it handy in the Jeep glovebox for a loaner. A sturdier blade no doubt. My vote goes to the Slimline Trapper. Now to buy one more! I like the one in Bermuda Green Scales from Case, if they only made it in CV.

A larger than Standard Trapper such as this Schrade Dark Bone Trapper is my choice. It is somewhat fashioned after Remington's R1173

Of course the standard CV Case 4 1/8" Trapper in yellow delrin is always a good choice.

Not in the poll but a good choice none-the-less is the CV Case mini-Trapper.

I have both, and do prefer the Slimline more. Just more pocket friendly (lighter) for everyday use. But when deer season rolls in a Schrade Heritage trapper goes in my pocket. My 1 and only Case large trapper usually just sits a display case.

In order of preference of the one's I have. You really can't make a wrong choice here. LOL

1. Mini Trapper (Navy Blue Bone)
2. Slimline Trapper (Barnyard Burnt White Bone)
3. Trapper (Synthetic Yellow)

Slim Line Trapper all the way.
Perfect Gent's knife.
Thin efficient blade in a package that disappears in your pocket.
Plenty of knife for everyday tasks.

Slimline no question. I've never liked full sized Trappers much, too long and the spey blade doesn't interest me. I've always prefered a Copperhead to a full Trapper anyway, shorter, sturdy and the bolster keeps those tangs in order-very pocket friendly. CASE's Mini Trapper is a better option over the full Trapper particularly in the Wharncliffe variant. GEC's 48 can be had with a pen blade secondary, that's an interesting model too.

I love the slimline Case CV in yellow delrin. I've carried my first one since 1974. Several years ago I bought a second one and still prefer to carry the old worn one! I also have a full size trapper in jigged red bone with SS blades. It's just not my favorite, the slim line fits hand and pocket better and the CV is my choice for utility work.

I voted regular, but I have no use for the spey on my trapper. I just missed a slimline on the bay. Can't seem to get on in my price range.

I'll vote for the big boy! Two big blades and plenty of strength. One for work and one stays sharp and pointy. For what I do, the spey blade works just fine. I am used to the weight in the pocket but also have sheaths for it if I want to use them. The long blades work great for my work (plumbing) and I guess I'm biased because i was raised with one since my old boss carried one and considered it a real knife! :p Of course I had to carry the same kind and have been for 15 years now. Everyday. :D Course now I carry a Chestnut SBJ everyday too! Love it for small work and food prep.

For those of you that like the 4 1/8" Case Trapper but find it a bit bulky or long for the pocket, Case makes a nice leather sheath for those Trappers.

Of course it'll work with any brand trapper.

I like the slimline or the mini Trapper for EDC they aren't such a lump in the pocket. I'd carry a full sized one if I knew there was some hard cutting to do.

Does it have a loop in the back or a slit like the sheath for the folding hunter. Thanks.

Which do I prefer? Hmm, let me think about that for a second...

JAB - That blue bone one is really nice. I don't think they make that one any more.

I just ordered a brown Delrin one.

My favorite is my Trapperlock, it gets more pocket time than any other knife I own. I do like the wharncliffe trappers too, have a tiny and a mini so I guess I better get a full size one too :D

Expletives. Leave them out of your posts.
