Which company generally puts out the best 8cr13mov?

I haven't noticed a big difference in my knives of that steel. I particularly like my spydercos and Byrd's with it though. I've moved on to higher end steels, but often remind myself how 8cr13 really gets the job done and takes a great edge with ease.

I don't own many 8cr knives but my Spyderco Tenacious and Persistence take an awesome edge and hold it good enough. The Kershaws I've had in the past were pretty good also in that steel.
 
Sanrenmu, because they make Spyderco, CRKT, Kershaw etc budget chinese knives with 8CR😜

I have several AG Russell knives with 8cr13mov and have always been impressed with the performance for what it is. I don't have any other brands with 8cr13mov so I really can't compare 1 to the other.
 
Anything made by Sanrenmu seems to do OK

Spyderco, Kershaw, Real Steel, and their own branded product have all been good IME
 
I've seen a lot of variability in the 8Cr13MoV from SanRenMu, Enlan, Bee and the other import OEM manufacturers. Some models seem good, others are horribly bad...even duplicate copies of the same model purchased at different times can be very different. They're hit or miss.

Most reliable would be the Spyderco Tenacious family, most Kershaws and the Byrd's. CRKT's 8Cr13MoV is fairly consistent these days except it tends to be very soft. I guess the up-side of that is you can sharpen them on the bottom of a ceramic coffee mug!
 
Isn't that kid of like asking what is the "most gourmet" Hamburger Helper flavor? :D
 
IMO, from all my Enlan, SRM, KaBar, etc. (budget blades) the best is Spyderco's Byrd steel

It is the kind of steel (someone here called it "alphabet soup" steel, snicker...) that tends to put me off unless I really, really like the design of the knife. I ended up owning quite a few 8Cr13Mov knives by A.G. Russell and I can say none of them ever disappointed. The man designs great knives and certainly knows how to build a partnership with foreign manufacturers. So, i would trust this brand.
 
Well, considering it's China's version of AUS8, I'd always opt for AUS8 over 8cr13mov. Culturally, Japan is meticulous in its craftsmanship. With that I'm of the opinion, that AUS8 is going to be more consistent than it's Chinese counterpart. This hold true for Japanese hand ground blades, over Chinese ground blades as well.
