Which CPK are you carrying today?

So keeping it just to CPK, what is “realistically” your favorite to regularly carry with you? EDC seems logical but I just have a sneaking suspicion that the DEK’s are going to rate high.

DEK1 hands-down

The only opinion that matters is your own. From what I see, you gravitate toward smaller knives for daily use. If they're getting the job done, why question it? Truth be told, most all of what I need to do on a daily basis could be done with any number of my smaller blades.

I just happen to like their beefier brethren...but that's not necessarily because they are more suitable. In fact I know it's not.

Just a thought...
I do carry and use smaller blades every day for sure. I just like to talk after too much coffee (and all other times I suppose).
I do have a edc 1 in the mail and others in house that fill all the other voids. Though others most certainly appeal to me, I have everything I need and much more though I like trying new things and tweaking my stash a bit from time to time. It’s about dialed in for a while.
Oh, it was his that I passed on.

Anything from the elusive skinner to the FK1 or 2 is all I would need to carry on a daily basis. My EDC2 is what I actually carry and it has never failed me at work or play. When I hike/backpack I usually go with my FK2. I did substitute it with the DEK1 on multi day hike one year and it was more than enough blade. Pros and cons - DEK1 carries way smaller than the FK2 but isn’t as comfortable during extended use. I prefer my FK2 for hiking. I have also substituted my EDC2 with the DEK1 as edc for work. Flawless as a work knife. But I prefer my EDC2 for work because it is so damn comfortable and rides lower in my left side thigh pocket on work pants. I still get looks sometimes when I use it. And have even been questioned as to why I need to carry such a “large knife”.
I plan to take my BFK this fall when I take a few days off for a hike. I already know it will perform well.
It’s just nice to have options.

I always carry a folder, typically 3.5 - 4” blade length. So carrying a short fixed blade always feels a bit redundant. If I had only one CPK it would be the UF.

Great and I just passed on 1 this morning 😖
Brought this back to ask about the EDC in CPM 4v. Anyone care to share how they like it or don’t?
Edge retention, sharpening and whatever your thoughts might be.
I have one inbound and you know about anticipation!

Maybe your incoming EDC (4V) will appease your confoundedness... There are plenty of DEK1's out there so you should be able to successfully acquire one at some point. ;)

The rare 4V LC and EDC samples are like you said... "hen's teeth!"

If it's during work hours I carry a large-ish folder (3.5 - 4inch blade). That's as much as I can get away with.
Outside of work, in everyday scenarios, I carry the DEK1. The FK2 is great, but the extra handle makes it more noticeable and I feel like I don't have as many options for carrying it. For me, it doesn't do anything that the DEK1 doesn't. I haven't finished the sheath for my reaper yet, but when that's done (assuming I don't screw it up) I have the sneaking suspicion that I may start carrying it in place of the DEK1. Who knows?

If I could always do as I please without negative consequences, I'd prefer to carry my sig SDFK all the time. The added weight and size don't bother me. Anything I do with a small knife, I can do with a large one. The opposite isn't always true. This is purely out of convenience. I wouldn't carry it because I'm thinking tactically or because I'm concerned about zombies, EOTW, survival situations, etc. It's just convenience based. If I have that on my belt, there isn't a scenario I'll realistically encounter that requires me to grab a larger (or different) knife.

Personally, if I were you, I wouldn't worry about being able to grab a DEK1. It's a great knife and there are quite a few out there. I'm sure you'll have another chance. Now the EDC knives? Count yourself lucky. They're harder to come by and I'm sure you're going to love it. The only "downside" (I'm using that term loosely here) that I've ever read on the forums is related to the blade size. Doesn't seem that will be an issue for you, from what you've said.

One of the nice things about buying a CPK is that you can purchase one to see if you like it with no risk. More than likely, you'll be able to sell it without taking a loss. If you think you might like it, grab it. You can always pass it along if you don't.

That’s exactly where I’ve been. I had a great FK2 but passed it along because I got in on the bfk5 pre order. That will fill the spot for me better. The DEK just looks nice and you know how the pictures get you lathered up. I looked at it several times this morning and had plenty of time to hop on it but didn’t.
I do normally carry smaller blades. I’m a small guy and don’t like trying to maneuver around the bigger blades even with a dangler. I do live in a place where I can carry anything I want most of the time due to living behind a private and always locked gate on several acres with many hundreds more at my access by walking or 4 wheeling or whatever. The small ones just fill my daily needs and I have bigger to choose from if desired. Bottom line is: I like to talk knives and hear other’s opinions.
