Which do you think would look better?

I am working on some knife handles and wanted to get a little more fancy. I am considering mixing thick black paper Micarta with wood, but wanted some opinions...would the Micarta look better as the main material, with wood bolsters, or vice versa? I was thinking Micarta bolsters with koa or cocobolo main handle pieces, but I am open to suggestion. Also, what are the general principles used when deciding what would look good for bolster/handle combinations? I have koa, two kinds of rosewoods, some unidentified mystery wood from the desert, rag Micarta, black paper Micarta, ivory micarta, and the cocobolo. What principles should I use to determine if it would look good or not (i.e contrast, grains patterns, etc)? Thanks!

Knifemaking is a completely unprincipled undertaking. Just do what feels good and see what happens. Personally, I'd opt for Micarta bolsters and wood for the handle, but that's just an opinion.

I'm doing a little neck knife that way right now.

I've been thinking a lot about a knife with the handle split half and half lengthwise, alot like puma makes alot of their folders. Only with wood and micarta or G10. You could make the seam straight or in a serpantine.
