Which Dodo? Pic request.

Cutting open the Spyderhole is a modification generally referred to as a "wave". I'm not sure what company first sold a production knife with a wave feature, I think it was Emerson, but I'm not sure, and I don't know who the knifemaker was. If you wave a knife that carries tip-up (like the Dodo), as you pull it from your pocket the "wave" catches on the edge of your pocket, such that the knife is opened as it's pulled out of your pocket. I'm pretty sure the feature arose as a tactical concern, to reduce the time it takes to get the knife out and open and in hand. I've found it to be useful for knives I use for utility purposes like the Dodo, it's like carrying around a stout little fixed blade in your pocket.

OIC I see it now. When I first looked at it, I thought the cut was in the wrong place to be used in that way. But if I had looked at the pic of the closed DODO it would have been clear to me. MY BAD :D

Should be able to get an idea of how the colors compare. Hope it helps.

Thanks a lot Ritt. I have a good idea now. Now I just have to choose. :) Or I could get them both.....

Saw an article on the web showing how Kershaw had a folder with a bottle opener feature on the blade spine. This happened to be a design that caused the blade to open if snagged on the pocket hem. I think this was the inspiration for Emerson's "Wave" model. Can't find the site now. Think it was archived on "the martialist"

I love the Dodo. I too was a skeptic at first but as soon as I handled and use one I was hooked! The knife feels great in hand and the blade works wonders. No need for SE either, the PE is just fine. And sharpening it on the sharpmaker is just as easy as any other knife.
