Which Dragonfly ?

Thanks for all your answers. Now the next question arises.I always hated serations since i had the horrible knife experiment gone wrong aka the Walther Black Tac.But i looked at the spyderedge on the DF,and it kinda grown on me.Is any advantage what so ever in a spyderedge ?

Im not a huge fan of serrations on my knives but owners generally heap praise on the Spyderco serrations.

If your task calls for serrations, you can be certain that a serrated Spyderco will do the task at hand.

Serrated Spydercos are buzz saws.

Check out the Spyderco subforum here.

I generally dont like serrations either. That said, in h1 steel they hold an edge forever. H1 is a work hardening steel so it gets super hard in the scalloped areas. Do a search on this and see what sal has to say on the subject. For non-h1 I would say no serrations.

The G-10 D'Fly lives in my pocket most days. I took the clip off since it's really not needed for such a small knife. I'd highly recommend the G-10 version. It's a very solid knife, moreso than the FRN versions, IMO.

I think I read that the stainless handle Dragonfly's are being disco'ed at the end of the year. If you're thinking about getting one might not want to wait too long.

On the contrary! Not sure if they are getting discontinued or not but if that happens you could get one new at a great price. I've gotten fantastic deals on discontinued knives in recent years. ZT 909, Spyderco K2, Kershaw injection & Tremor just to name a few.

Mostly depends on how you plan to use it, it's also kind of a small knife to use for big work but I really like the look of the h1 serrated df2 and plan to buy one sometime soon, I like spyderedge I've had on the pacific salt how it'll tear through most anything but I sometimes don't like due to the points sticking into things and getting kind of hung up and then have to back it out or rip it, but there is a portion of the tip that's plain usually enough for when I need cleaner slicing

Tried the D-Fly twice.. Gave both away.. If I am going to carry a blade this size, I prefer a traditional.. Just sayin!! John

I pulled the trigger on a plain edge,SS DF.The extra weight doesnt bother me on such a small knife, and i thought i need somethinng other than frn in my colection.

Zdp is a great steel.for a dragonfly, but I prefer the g10 handles. God I wish they'd re release the zdp with nishijin handles. I'll never forgive myself for losing mine.
