Which dressy Benchmade?

Nothing wrong with a 440 or 690. That said, if you want a pretty Benchmade, not getting an Axis just seems silly. (IMHO, YMMV, etc.)

I've been thinking about a 960 for a while. My 921 has great lines, is a cutting machine, and has great ergos for such a flat knife. I'd also toss in a vote for the 770 series. My 770D2 fits my hand better than my 705, and is lighter than any BM I've owned except the 530.

If you're looking at the 921, the 940 series is almost the exact same size, and the carbon fiber Limited Ed's are sexier than sexy.

Hmmm..., I notice how many Osborne's have been mentioned in this thread. They do have a kind of slim profile that is dressy. At least they hide well in the pocket.

I have a 690BC1CF that is nothing but dressy and they boron carbide does not scratch. But I just got one the new 941BC1G and it is very subtle and dressy looking. The handles are grey alum which when contrasted with the lustrous and darker BC1 blade really makes a quiet kind of statement. It is also slimmer and a tad lighter than the 690 with a slightly longer blade. I'll get some comparison pics up later. It is really a hard call which one is dressier. I love 'em both.:D

Again, I can't afford the Gold Class/Limited Editions. I find the clip on the 690 ugly, but I can't imagine a better looking clip. Thin profiled knives will go better in dress pants, I guess

i love my 690. i thought the clip was ugly too when i saw it for the first time at a gun show. i ended up buying it, it's so different in real life when you handle it. i LOVE my 690!!

Look at the 705-401. Silver G-10 scales and a silver split arrow style clip. A very nice looking (sheeple friendly) knife that can dissapear into the pocket and can still work like a tank.

It is $110 + shipping if the two dealers that sell them still have some left.

I so hear you there GB. ;) The knives I mentioned (690bc1cf, 941bc1g) are limited edition blue class. If you were going to get a 960 you would pay just about as much.

If you like black blades that are dressy I would suggest going with the boron carbide because it keeps its finish beautifully. You do not have to get the ltd ed to get a BC blade either. So, you would spend about the same. For dress I also favor my BM77X. But it is smaller than the ones mentioned here.

And, I agree, they could have done better on the 690 clip.

The ones in the pics--I couldn't afford them either!!!;)

Very nice, but it'll have to wait. I just brought the PMillie and no $$$ right now. So 960 Silver it'll be. Thanks everyone

Why not the BM 770 ? There must be some left. I bought some weeks ago one form the special edition with green-black G-10 scales and D2-Blade and I am so satisfied, the blade is so sharp and the clip is so small, that I normally clip it in my shirt-pocket as a ball-pen.

.........and a BM 850-01, Mel Pardue - if still possible to get. It is bigger, rounder and fills your hand more complete and looks very fine. I am very proud to have one, but it is a bit too heavy for my shirt-pocket.
By the way, it is a linerlock, my preferred locking-system, because it is so simple and effective - f o r m e. ;)

There's one on ebay, you have to buy it along with a Pika... no word about it's condition or anything, it was surrendered to airport personnel.

I ordered one of these recently. I am still waiting to recieve it, but i am looking forward to it.

Yup, looks like some guy used a pair of tin snips and shaped a random piece. Elishewitz's real clips look much better. The no recurve makes me love the 705 even more...but alas I have no money....Thanks..hopefully when I chalk up the cash, It'll still be availible, SOMEWHERE

I have both the 960 and the 960s models, and I love them, however, neither compares to the opening action of my 940. Too bad the 940 isn't D2...
