Which Emerson?

I use the CQC8 and a Combat Karambit as my two duty blades. I have a CQC7V that should be here on Thursday so we will see where that lands. I personally am not a fan of recurve blades. That's not to say they do not have good cutting power, but for ease of sharpening in the field I am not the biggest fan. The commander is one comfy feeling knife though. The CQC8 is still what my hands consider perfect. For a smaller blade I would look at the CQC7 or CQC10.

I'm almost sold on a CQC8. A fellow officer got some meth today and whipped out an 8 to grab a small sample to field test. I handled it a bit afterward and I like it a lot. Although, there is a commander on the exchange I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on for $165...

I love my 8, if you don't have one I highly recommend it. I suggested the 7 or 10 as you originally said you wanted something a little smaller. The CQC8 has become one of, if not my very favorite EDC. Sharp enough for penetration and enough belly for slicing tasks. It's also small enough in the pocket to not be in the way. I think the standard size is perfect, no need for the mini and big enough to not feel like ordering the super version. The gaurd on it also means that you get great traction in gloves, including thicker Kevlar lined gloves.
